Continuity mistake: The final game is reported by the ESPN announcer as being the "Inaugural Bourbon Bowl", meaning it's the first one. Later, on Bobby Boucher's jersey, there is a patch that says "Bourbon Bowl 50th Anniversary 1948-1998".

Factual error: In the scene when the opposing team's players interrupt the party on the bayou and the knife is pulled, the patches on the sheriff's uniform say County Sheriff. Louisiana has parishes not counties.

Continuity mistake: After Bobby jump-kicks player 62 down to the floor, because he insulted him, the football appears beside player 62 between shots, as he lies on the floor. (00:29:20)

Continuity mistake: When Bobby finds Vicki working on his lawnmower, a man wearing a yellow shirt appears and disappears in the background several times throughout the scene. (00:30:05)

Continuity mistake: During the barbeque with Vicky, Bobby and Mama, after Mama drinks from her jar of red drink, she sets the jar down twice between shots. (00:32:25)

Continuity mistake: When Bobby is in class learning about crocodiles, the teacher draws four dashes on the board from the words 'anger' 'jealousy' and 'aggression', which disappear and reappear repeatedly. (00:24:20)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Bobby gives Coach Klein the water, Coach Klein is holding the cup. The camera angle changes between the two of them and when for the last time it faces Bobby, he is holding the blue cup. (00:10:00)

Continuity mistake: In the last scene of the movie, Bobby's wedding, his long-lost father Roberto drives his car in front of Bobby's lawnmower and stops in the middle of the street, the front of the car almost perpendicular to the curb. After Momma tackles Roberto, the shot when Bobby drives off shows the car parked parallel to the curb. (01:24:20 - 01:25:30)

Continuity mistake: When Bobby is first hired by Coach Klein, and the guys knock down the table with cups of water, Bobby and the coach talk. Two girls, one in a white t-shirt and the other in a black sports-bra type top, walk past Henry in the background in the wide shot, and again in the next close-up.

Continuity mistake: When Coach Klein is drawing his game strategy on the chalkboard, the drawings and lines are different between shots. Also, an extra line appears on the board as the Coach sits down. (00:08:45)

Continuity mistake: When Bobby looks at the obscene note from the waterboy suggestion box, in the closeup the note is fresh and unwrinkled. But in the wideshot the note is crumpled and wrinkled. (00:02:45)

Hamster

Continuity mistake: When Bobby told his mama that something bad happened in his work, Mama is holding the knife with the pointed edge facing to her left. When it shows Mama's back the knife points at the front. This continues every time the camera angle changes.

Visible crew/equipment: Crewmembers and the boom mike are often reflected in the football player's helmets throughout the film, especially in closeups of the players. (00:12:00)

Continuity mistake: When Coach Klein is round for the snake dinner, as 'Mama' Boucher sits sown, she holds both utensils in her right hand. In the next shot there is a meat fork in her left hand. (00:15:45)

Continuity mistake: In the scene of the last play of the Bourbon Bowl, with time running out the quarterback catches a pass from Bobby for the winning touchdown. While catching this pass, it shows him reaching back with his left hand to snag the ball while he is falling down on his left side. But the next shot from the beyond the end zone shows him hitting the ground on his right side.

Other mistake: When Bobby recovers the onside kick, he recovered it on the 43-yard line, which is where the ball is spotted (the scoreboard even shows this). However, there was an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty with the late tackle (and a flag was thrown so we know the ref didn't miss the penalty) so the ball should have been spotted on the 28-yard line. (And there's no question there were no off-setting penalties).

Other mistake: At the beginning of the movie when Bobby starts being waterboy for Coach Klein, the players are on the field giving him a hard time. Bobby is on the sideline and the quarterback is making fun of him, which winds Bobby up and he runs onto the field tackling the quarterback. Even though Bobby hits him from the front, knocking him onto his back, a clump of grass somehow appears in the quaterback's facemask.

Continuity mistake: When Bobby is talking to Vicki and she says she thought about stealing L.T's car at camp, you can see a red van pass behind Bobby twice.

Continuity mistake: In the opening scene, Bobby gets hit in the side of his head with a football. Immediately afterwards, the camera pulls back to a wide shot, but the football is nowhere to be seen. It should at least be lying somewhere near Bobby.

Dan Fouts: The waterboy just needed some water.
Brent Musburger: Wow Dan, did you come up with that all by yourself?
Dan Fouts: Shut up, Brent.

Question: According to IMCDB, Bobby rides a John Deere 200-series lawn tractor. Assuming he didn't do anything to spruce it up, how many miles would he realistically be able to ride it before having to fill it up? How fast could he ride it? Does it take regular gasoline or would it need a special fuel mix? I couldn't find any specs on its mpg, although JD says it has a 3.5 gallon tank and a top speed of 5.5 mph.

Bishop73

Answer: Didn't see the movie, but I looked up the specifications for the John Deere model 200 on TractorData. It was the first of the series and manufactured from 1975-1976. It had a Kohler one-cylinder 305cc 8 HP 4-cycle engine that runs on regular gas and a surprising maximum speed in 4th gear of 7 miles per hour! No one seems to rate lawn tractor MPGs, but similar-sized engines running generators at full load might use about 3/4 to 1 gallon per hour. So, he should be able to go at least 3 and 1/2 hours on a tank, or about 25 miles. He could fill up at a gas station without having to add oil to the gas.
