Continuity mistake: When Costas gets pulled over at the beginning of the movie, he stops the car. Initially, between the brick building and the concrete one there's a road with no cars. In Jay Leno's close-up once he is asked "License and registration, please" behind his big head you can see a black and white car, and a couple police officers on the sidewalk. (00:05:00)

Continuity mistake: Fujitsuka's boss passes him 3 pictures. They are all lined up together in the close-up, but in the reverse shot they are spread out. (00:07:00)

Continuity mistake: Police office in Tokyo. Mr. Nakagawa asks Pat Morita how his English is. He had the folder with the material about the case close to his body, elevated, but when he answers, or tries, the folder is placed against the desk. (00:07:15)

Continuity mistake: Oshima, downed by a headbutt, begins to sit up and asks "Where is Mr. Madras?" In the next shot he's down lower and the back of his hand is against the car. When 'Tex' Cobb puts his feed on the hook, his hand is down, but is up again instantly after. (00:08:50)

Continuity mistake: Costas pays (with his pal's money) for the cookies from the kid and signs for sending the whole package to the colleague. As he trips on the boxes, the kid has suddenly straightened the pile he has in his arms. (00:13:35)

Other mistake: Costas' junkyard buddy gets shot in the chest, but opening enough of the bodybag merely to see his face, he is able to tell what sort of weapon killed him. (00:15:45)

Continuity mistake: Pat Morita is searching the room of the deceased Oshima. In a close-up he flips a sheet on top of the one with car schematics, but he's holding the sheets together in the next. (00:19:00)

Continuity mistake: Costas tells the agent that the mysterious person must have gotten out at the mezzanine.The clothing cart meanwhile passes, and its path crosses with a boy with an azure shirt. Wider shot follows, and the guy is still cutting into the path of the clothes valet, but he is in front of the hotel staffer by a significant margin. (00:22:30)

Continuity mistake: Inside Inspector Ryerson's office, Costas picks up the phone. Leno in the close-up is holding the receiver with two hands, one before and after. (00:26:10)

Continuity mistake: Chasing the Japanese detective, Jay Leno enters a mall. He approaches the photo shop hiding his face behind a small balloon, and walks towards the camera. Before the cut, two women move in frame, one wears pink, the other wears blue. Next shot and as he speaks with the girl at the counter the two women are again moving in frame, but they are behind him and starting off from a part of the mall they originally came from. Continuity mistake: During the introduction to the press of the 'Starburst' car, Derek Jarryd pushes a button and the curtain rises; it rises well above his shoulders, but in the close-up he is turning around for the camera and the curtain is just then below his breast pocket level. (00:34:15)

Continuity mistake: Madras is having lunch when Derek Jarryd sits at his table and passes him today's paper. He grabs it and holds it by the bottom right corner; in close-up he is holding it mid-page. (00:34:50)

Other mistake: The motor company executive angrily shows to the villainous Madras the newspaper bearing news of the dead Japanese. The date is Friday 19 June. But the day of the final confrontation a couple days later, as shown in a panning view of the racetrack screen, is June 18. (00:34:55 - 01:20:55)

Continuity mistake: In his apartment, Costas pours whiskey for Fujitsuka. When he says "I was a little curious, those photographs." etc, he has still his arm intent on pouring while he had already lifted the bottle at the end of the previous shot. (00:46:50)

Continuity mistake: The two partners have finished the bottle of Chivas; when Leno says "You don't tell me sh*t!", Pat Morita in the close-up has his index higher on the glass (the last 'ring', nearly to the rim) compared to the way he held the same glass in the wider shot. (00:48:25)

Continuity mistake: At the car show, Costas approaches the female host reading the specification of the new vehicle. He flashes her badge and tries his usual pickup line. During the sequence, people with recognizable clothes pass behind him, and they never carry from one view to the next, they just disappear at the cut. (00:53:10)

Plot hole: The odd couple tails the suspicious guy bossing around the car company mogul and run a check on the license plate. The response is "Car registered H.W. Scully. No known residence, only address PO Box 25047 Detroit." They tail him a bit, end up in the bowling alley and lose him in the commotion. After that, Leno asks his buddy at the district if he has "anything on that guy Scully", and the answer is "This guy has done anything but rape Bambi. Several weapons charges, assault and battery, he beat a murder rap in Sarasota" etc. And of course, an address. (00:56:35 - 01:01:35)

Continuity mistake: The dynamic duo does a U turn in front of the bowling and parks behind Scully. New shot and the light changes (look at the shadow the car was projecting during the wide shot) and a new car is passing in the street. (00:56:55)

Revealing mistake: A brawl in the bowling alley erupts, started by Tex Cobb tossing on the ground a bad Jay Leno stunt double (hair color does not even match). (00:58:40)

Continuity mistake: When Tex Cobb is facing Pat Morita in the bowling brawl stalking him by the table dividers, Cobb has the right hand raised in guard when seen from the front, but from behind his arm is lowered. (00:59:15)
