Trivia: In his biography, Gene Kelly has admitted that he knew Xanadu was a bad film, but found Olivia Newton-John a joy to work with and she helped him survive it.

Trivia: The "old movie" sequence was shot in front of the rooftop set from "Suddenly" earlier in the movie. You see the exact same buildings, and the same railing, in the background.

Trivia: Olivia Newton-John met her husband, actor and dancer Matt Lattanzi on the set of this film.

Trivia: This was Gene Kelly's last ever feature film, and the last film he ever got to dance in.

Trivia: Although Olivia Newton-John's character calls herself Kira in this movie, she is actually based on the muse "Terpsichore," who is the muse of dance, and is also known as "The Whirler." In the movie she begins to tell Sonny her real name, but all that she says is "My real name is Ter...", before he kisses her.

Trivia: Michael Beck once said, "The Warriors (1979) opened a lot of doors in film for me, which Xanadu (1980) then closed."

Trivia: Bill Pullman was one of the Roller Skaters in the Xanadu club scene, years before his first proper movie role. He has a couple of clear shots in the scene.
