MI6 agent Hattie Shaw, Deckard Shaw's sister, is on a mission to retrieve a deadly virus called Snowflake. Hattie successfully infiltrates the facility where the virus is being held but is ambushed by the mercenary organization known as Eteon. She injects herself with the virus to keep it away from Eteon.

Meanwhile, Luke Hobbs, a former federal agent, is recruited by the CIA to track down Hattie and the virus. Hobbs is informed of the virus' potential to wipe out half the world's population and is assigned to work with Deckard Shaw, Hattie's estranged brother and a former British Special Forces assassin.

Hobbs and Shaw have a history of animosity and instantly clash while trying to find Hattie. They discover her location and track her to an extraction point where they confront an enhanced superhuman soldier known as Brixton Lore, a member of Eteon, who is after the virus. Brixton is defeated by Hobbs and Shaw, but Hattie escapes, leaving the team with no choice but to work together.

Hobbs, Shaw, and Hattie regroup and learn that the virus will become active in two days if it is not extracted. They plan to use a specialized machine called "The Extractor" to remove the virus from Hattie. However, The Extractor is located in the secure Eteon facility in Ukraine. In order to get there, they need to extract a secretive scientist named Professor Andreiko, Hattie's former colleague.

The team successfully retrieves Andreiko but is ambushed by Brixton and his team. During the intense fight, Andreiko sacrifices himself so the others can escape. The team locates a hidden plane and flies to Samoa, Hobbs' hometown. There, Hobbs reunites with his estranged family and seeks their help in battling Brixton.

They convert Hobbs' family garage into a makeshift weapons manufacturing plant and prepare for the imminent attack. As Brixton and his team arrive, a high-speed chase and intense battle ensue. Hobbs, Shaw, and Hattie ultimately defeat Brixton's team, but Brixton activates the virus within Hattie.

Desperate to save Hattie, Hobbs and Shaw race against time to find the Extraction device, which has been transferred to the Eteon facility in Chernobyl. They infiltrate the facility and locate the Extraction device. Hobbs faces Brixton in a brutal hand-to-hand combat while Shaw rescues Hattie and uses the device to remove the virus. Working together, Hobbs and Shaw overpower Brixton and destroy the Eteon facility.

Having saved the world from the virus, Hobbs, Shaw, and Hattie part ways. Hobbs rejoins his family in Samoa, and Shaw visits Hattie in London, rekindling their bond as siblings.

In a mid-credits scene, Hobbs receives a call from a mysterious voice informing him that they need to work together on a new mission involving a potential threat to the world, hinting at possible future adventures for Hobbs and Shaw.

Factual error: The grenade booby trap in Hattie's flat gets triggered, with the pin coming out and lever comes off. Once that happens the fuse is set and there's no way to stop it exploding, but Shaw puts the pin back in and renders it inert again. (00:25:50)

Answer: Many viruses are specific to certain types of species and do not cross over and infect others. The Snowflake virus was a programmable super virus that apparently was genetically engineered for a particular target.
