Venom
Venom mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Anne breaks up with Eddie on the sidewalk right after they get fired from their jobs, she approaches him and drops the box she is carrying. A ceramic mug falls out of the box. There is both visual and audible confirmation. After putting her ring in his shirt pocket, she bends to pick up the empty box and proceeds to walk away without also retrieving the missing contents. (00:14:45)

Continuity mistake: When Eddie and Dr. Skirth enter the Life Foundation building, it is nighttime. However, when the symbiote bonds with Eddie and he breaks out of the facility shortly afterwards, and is being chased by the security teams, it is foggy daylight. (00:33:20 - 00:37:30)

Continuity mistake: During the car chase scene, Eddie and Venom squeeze between some cars and the enemy SUV behind him smashes through them. The headlights of the SUV get busted, but in the next shot the SUV is perfectly fine again.

Continuity mistake: In the car chase scene when Brock is on the motorcycle going through the city, you can see him pass by the same movie theater at least 3 different times in the chase showing they used the same street over and over while filming.

Continuity mistake: When Dan explains to Eddie what Venom is doing to his body, Venom grabs Dan with his left hand. In the next shot, it's his right hand.

Suggested correction: Venom always has Dan in his left hand. You can especially tell by the position of Venom's thumb.

Continuity mistake: When Anne and Dan get out of the car at Anne's apartment they start talking to Eddie and the car simply disappears during this scene - we don't see or hear it drive away as we should.

Suggested correction: You do in fact see the car drive off a little before Anne says "Dan, this is Eddie."

Suggested correction: He has the newspaper in his hand the whole time he's in the store. It's in his hand when he points at Mrs. Chen, you see it when he's hiding behind the shelves, and even at the end when he puts the items on the counter.

Bishop73

Continuity mistake: Tom Hardy wears a ring on his left index finger throughout the movie, but in the scene where he's watering the plant in the window of his apartment, the ring is on his right index finger, then switches back to the left hand in the next scene.

Continuity mistake: The photo taken by Eddie of the homeless girl in Life's lab was taken horizontally, but later when looking at the photo it's vertical.

oswal13

Continuity mistake: When Dan calls Annie he is holding the cell phone with his right hand and the tablet with his left, but in the next shot they swap hands.

oswal13

Continuity mistake: The girl that got the riot symbiote from Jameson has plastic gloves before she leaves the ambulance but when she is outside they are gone.

oswal13

Continuity mistake: While Eddie and his girl are talking on the sidewalk after she was fired, a lady in a brown coat passes behind them at least three different times.

oswal13

Continuity mistake: When Eddie is looking for a job, he marks on the newspaper with a pen on the right side but in the next shot it's on the left.

oswal13

Continuity mistake: The Ducati Scrambler doesn't have a mirror in the first scene, but during the car chase there is one suddenly on its left side.

Joey221995

Continuity mistake: At the end when Anne and Eddie are sitting on the step talking we can see a man in the background walking towards them wearing a light grey/blue top. As the camera cuts to Anne and then Eddie the man disappears, he doesn't pass them as other people do and he doesn't cross the road.

Continuity mistake: When Eddie and Anne are on their date night Eddie starts laughing, we then cut to a view over his left shoulder and he's instantly not laughing or smiling.

Plot hole: At the angle of descent and the speed it was traveling (still burning from reentry even), when the space shuttle crashed in the opening of the film, it would not have left much of anything behind. The kinetic explosion that would have resulted would have downed the forest around it for a good distance leaving a crater, and the clean up crews would have been lucky to find any piece of the ship itself still intact bigger than a football. Much less been able to find any discernible remains of the crew. Yet bodies were being taken out in still relatively good condition. And probably most unbelievable is that the glass containers holding the Symbiotes were not even broken.

Suggested correction: Since this is in the Marvel universe the capsule could have at least partially been made of Vibranium or Adamantium.

lionhead

Adamantium is exclusive to the X-Men films which for the time being are under Fox, and Vibranium is exclusive to films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This film is part of neither. There were rumors and speculation prior to this film's release that it would be adjunct to the MCU, but there are things within the film that contradict it. Particularly Eddie Brock being dismissive of the symbiote being an alien life form. An alien invasion was one of the major plot points of the first Avengers film, so an alien being wouldn't be something people would be skeptical of going forward.

Phaneron

Like Phan said. But also, i'm referring to the glass of the container staying in tact. Those two super metals don't make glass.

Quantom X

I just thought that although there can't be a mention of Vibranium, it doesn't mean it's not there. What I mean is if Vibranium softens the bow of the impact the glass containers would stay intact. But I suppose if it's not allowed to exist for the films, then I guess it doesn't exist. The glass can be nanotechnology though.

lionhead

I see what you're saying, but that wouldn't mater with an impact like that. Space Shuttles are even made of Titanium, and would still be smashed to millions of little pieces from a reentry impact like that. The momentum and resulting kinetic explosion would devastate everything around it and level the forest for a good distance, leaving a massive creator, possibly as big or bigger than a football field. We are talking a few megatons of force.

Quantom X

This movie is not set in the Marvel Universe. It has been confirmed by the film crew that Venom is a standalone movie so it doesn't take place in the MCU at all.

I didn't say MCU, I said Marvel Universe. Some Marvel Universe anyway.

lionhead

There's only the MCU and since this movie doesn't take place in it, the ship is probably only made from the materials that most rocket ships are constructed from.

Trivia: When Ann and Eddie are on their date, Ann reminds Eddie of his firing from the Daily Globe. In the Spider-Man comics, Eddie Brock was a reporter for the Daily Globe, a rival newspaper of the Daily Bugle. In the comics, a string of murders were being carried out by a serial killer named the Sin-Eater. Eddie interviewed a man who claimed to be the Sin-Eater but Spider-Man captured the real one and the man that Eddie interviewed was found out to be a compulsive confessor. This incident caused Eddie to get fired from the Daily Globe and sometime after becoming Venom, moves to San Francisco after agreeing with Spider-Man that they will not bother each other on the condition that Eddie no longer commits any more crimes.

Question: I kinda don't understand the ending. Does Anne no longer blame Eddie for losing her job and ending their relationship? Did both Eddie and Anne get their jobs back or do they move on? What has become of The Life Foundation? Has founder Carlton Drake been exposed for the evil person he is for killing homeless people and Dora Skirth?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Since Eddie is seen talking with Ann, she seems to have forgiven him. Ann decides to become a public defender and Eddie was given his old job back but, he chose not to take it. Instead, he decides to go back to journalism. As for the Life Foundation, it's only speculation but, with the photos that Eddie took, it's possible that it shut down and Drake's plans and the people he murdered were exposed to the public.
