Other mistake: Ann rolls down the rope and lands in Phillip's arms just as the camera changes. In the second camera shot, the rope that Ann has just rolled down is perfectly still. Not possible after Ann rolled down the rope less than half a second before. (01:03:00)

Visible crew/equipment: In the dance "from now on" the camera pans out too far, showing end of the lino and reveals the studio floor (bottom left of screen). (01:28:00)

Continuity mistake: In the dance "from now on" the large lady by the bar is on her own, two shots later she has moved 10ft to her left, is surrounded by people and the tattooed man is dancing on a table in front of her that wasn't there before - he was at the front dancing two shots before. (01:28:00)

Continuity mistake: During the dance "from now on" the room size frequently changes to wider and back again. The true "narrow" width is shown from outside when Barnum leaves the bar. (01:29:00)

Continuity mistake: In the song "From Now On" two dancers are on the bar and dance past each other. In a different shot straight after, they are seen back where they were, and dance past each other again. (01:28:00)

Revealing mistake: Barnum gets down off the elephant and pats its leg, missing it, and his hand passes through its leg as he brings his arm down to his side. (01:37:00)

Suggested correction: He doesn't miss the leg, and when his arm goes down it goes down behind the elephant's leg.

Factual error: When Philip and Anne are at the theatre, Philip's parents confront him about being with "the help." Anne leaves and walks out the door next to a revolving door. Revolving doors were not invented until 1888. PT Barnum's Museum opened in 1842 and burned down in 1865. (01:02:31)

Continuity mistake: When Charity is about to leave her home to go off with PT Barnum, she is inside her house, walking down the stairs. She is wearing an elegant outfit, with what appears to be a dark green satin skirt. But after Charity and PT Barnum leave the house, and are walking outside, Charity's skirt changes to blue.

Continuity mistake: When PT is handing out flyers you can see there is none on the floor. However a few shots later the floor is littered with flyers. More than was handed out. (00:18:50)

Other mistake: At the start, we see PT Barnum in the shadows. However his waistcoat is lit up in one shot despite the lights all being behind him. (00:00:40)

P.T. Barnum: No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else.

Trivia: Making a film based on P.T. Barnum had been a passion project for star Hugh Jackman for some years before it was finally made. Reportedly, what kept the film from being made sooner was the fact that most major studios were apprehensive about producing an original musical not based on a pre-existing film or stageplay.

Question: Why couldn't young P. T. Barnum or his father retaliate against Charity's father for striking him?

Answer: In those days that would be a normal punishment for P.T.'s behaviour. His father could have said something but did not want to lose a customer. P.T. also did not want his father to lose a customer because they knew getting money was worth taking the hit. If they had enough money to miss one customer it may have been different.
