Continuity mistake: When Beverly kisses Bill, in one angle his ear is between her fingers, from another her entire hand is on his cheek. The blood smear she leaves behind also changes. (02:08:20)

Jon Sandys

Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie when Georgie is running down the street chasing the paper boat his walkie-talkie is in his right raincoat pocket. After running a bit it switches to his left pocket.

Factual error: When Stanley is at synagogue practicing for his Bar Mitzvah, and the Rabbi tells him to close the book, he does so - and a clear shot of the book cover from Stanley's left shows that the book (in Hebrew) is upside down. Hebrew books read right to left - the cover should be on Stanley's right, right side up.

Factual error: Nivea Soft Cream is on the shelves at the chemist - this did not exist in 1989, when the film is set.

Suggested correction: I think the date is subject to debate. The only thing we really have to go on is it's 2019 in chapter 2, and It comes back every 27 years which would be 1992.

The date is not subject to debate. The marquee on the movie theater is advertising both "Batman" and "Lethal Weapon 2," placing the movie in the summer of 1989.

Phaneron

There is no debate about the date. After the title card it says "June 1989." The opening scene took place "October 1988."

Factual error: Police cars are shown with red and blue lights. Police cars in Maine only display blue lights.

Continuity mistake: When Beverly is signing Ben's year book she has the pen lid in her mouth. It disappears and then reappears.

Factual error: When Bill meets Beverly for the first time and the shot is showing her while walking towards the other guys, some modern SUV are visible in the background.

Continuity mistake: At the quarry, there is an amusing scene where the boys all ogle Beverly. When she turns to look at them, they all pretend like they weren't staring at her. Pay attention to Richie during the next four shots. Richie looks to his right twice between the first two shots, and his legs go from crossed to uncrossed between the third and fourth shots.

Continuity mistake: As Leroy is talking to Mike about his future, Leroy points to the animal pen with his left hand, but the shot from Leroy's rear shows him pointing with his right hand.

Scott215

Factual error: This film is set in Maine (USA), but the war memorial shown is obviously Canadian; this is evidenced by the phrase "for King and country" engraved upon it.

zendaddy621

Factual error: In the pharmacy, there's a black bubble dome camera visible. Those kinds of camera weren't around in 1989.

Factual error: While Eddie and Bill are in the prescription section of the store, there is a security camera on the ceiling that wasn't released in the 80's.

Continuity mistake: Whilst the losers are at Ben's house discussing the history of Derry, Beverly discovers a poster of "New Kids on the Block" (much to the embarrassment of Ben). She then closes the door to hide the poster. In subsequent scenes the door is closed and the poster is nowhere to be seen.

Continuity mistake: When Mike witnesses the burning hands through the butcher shop, he encounters the group of punk kids in the Pontiac Firebird. In the shot of the boys from the hood of the car, the chubbier kid who wore a trucker hat is driving. When they stop so Henry Bowers can yell at Mike, we see Henry is now in the driver's seat of the car instead of the other boy.

Continuity mistake: When they see the bullies messing with the black kid it shows all the kids' bikes - the kid with brown shorts is riding a rhino Turn and Burn which had a goose-neck braking system. That bike did not come out until 1998.

Factual error: When passing under the railway bridge not only are the cars modern but there is also a Canadian Tire container on it which is a Canada only store, and doesn't ship by rail in the USA.

Continuity mistake: When Bev is hanging in the air, she is wearing a dress, with no leggings. As she gets pulled down with the help of the boys, she is wearing dark coloured leggings.

Suggested correction: She doesn't have leggings on when being pulled down either.

Quantom X

Suggested correction: Bev wears that dress in several scenes and the only time she isn't wearing leggings is at the quarry.

Factual error: When a train is passing on the bridge, it has modern containers. The type of car hauling it is also one from the modern era.

trainmaster247

Factual error: Ben's headphones look like 1995 plastic models and not 1989 style.

Pennywise: This isn't real enough for you, Billy? I'm not real enough for you?
Richie Tozier: Holy shit!
Pennywise: It was real enough for Georgie!
