Continuity mistake: After Marie wakes up to her parents at her bed and they think her story was a dream, she pulls out the crowns worn by the Seven Headed Mouse King, and her hand is cupped with thumb in. The angle changes and suddenly her thumb is outstretched to the side.

Continuity mistake: In the Swan boat, Marie looks out at the waves and sees her reflection as a princess. The waves are spread out enough that she can see them by looking sideways. Continuity mistake: When Marie and Nutcracker first arrive in Christmas Wood, they are standing on a frozen creek next to a tree. The tree is not on a hill. But a couple shots later when they start moving, they are suddenly walking, not on the frozen creek, but on a hill that has appeared under the tree.

Audio problem: When Marie is hearing the sword fight in the hall, any shots showing her bedroom door show flashes under it corresponding to the sounds of the swords hitting. They are timed perfectly the first time and for the first part of the second time. When Marie gets up to go look, you hear a pause in the sword fight as you hear the Mouse King and Nutcracker struggling for a moment, but no sword clanks. Yet the flashing under the door continues.

Other mistake: When the Seven headed Mouse King is confronting Marie the second time, asking for her dresses and books, he is sitting on the ledge talking to her with his forward most head. As he is talking with the head to the left, the eye on the head to the right does weird things. The iris rapidly expands and contracts in size a few times taking up the white space in the eye under the iris a few times before returning to normal for that head to talk.

Continuity mistake: Marie’s mother brings her breakfast in bed the morning after Drosselmeier tells her the story of the Nutcracker. In most shots, the Nutcracker is standing with his mouth open. But after her mother leaves and she leans in close to talk to the nutcracker, his mouth is shut.

Continuity mistake: When the Princess comes in and is confronting the king and queen, she is standing on the red carpet. Drosselmeier is to her right on the floor, and Drosselmeier’s nephew is on her left on the floor. But when The Court Astrologer gives him the crackatook nut, Drosselmeier is suddenly on the same side of the carpet as him standing right behind him.

Continuity mistake: When Marie is putting Nutcracker in the china cabinet, and is startled by the sound of a owl, she looks over at the grandfather clock with an owl on it. The clock face is not fully round, looking slightly squashed in an oval shape. It has a loop on top that makes it look like a round combination lock that does not go to the top of the clock. And the rest of the face of the clock around it is smooth. When it cuts to a close up of the clock, the face of the clock is now perfectly round, and the loop stretches up to the top of the wood almost on the clock. Also a square indention appears around the clock.

Continuity mistake: When Marie and Fritz run up to where Drosselmeier’s gift is for them, the shot shows it by the window with red curtains. When it cuts to a close up of the kids, the folds and ruffles at the top of the curtain suddenly become more elaborate. As well as more layers appearing.

Continuity mistake: At the very end, after the Nutcracker has turned back into a human, he and Marie are dancing at the Marzipan Castle and she puts her head on his chest. Continuity mistake: At the end when Drosselmeier introduces his nephew, they walk in and the doors they are by are a light grayish blue. But when it cuts to a close up, the doors are an orangish brown.

Continuity mistake: Earlier in the film before the mouse army attacks, the toy soldiers are shown to have all their eyes looking to their right. This is before the magic spell was put on them to bring them to life, so they were made with their eyes looking right. But at the end of the film when the toy soldiers are in the China cabinet with Nutcracker, all their eyes are facing forward. The toys return to their original state when the spell wears off, even Nutcracker, so their eyes should still be facing right.

Factual error: Many times in the film, the Nutcracker is shown to be standing at rest, but with its mouth open. It is at rest with nobody touching it, so its handle/lever would be in the down position by gravity. Yet the Nutcracker’s mouth is open. If a nutcracker is sitting at rest with the handle down, the mouth should be closed.

There are some large candy canes on each side of the dock, 4 on the right side and 5 on the left. The camera cuts to a side view as his sisters begin hugging him, the candy canes are suddenly in different angles and heights. Also there are more. 7 on the right side, and 6 or 7 on the left.

Other mistake: When in the Swan boat, Marie has her arm hanging out with her fingers dragging the water, making waves. She is lying down and back in the boat, with a wing obstructing her view. Yet somehow the reflections of the waves show her face, perpendicular to the boat. Not parallel like her face actually is to the boat, and also somehow reflecting her face despite both a swan wing being in the way, and her being down in the boat out of view of those waves.

Continuity mistake: When you first see the Swan boat going down the river with Nutcracker pushing it along with the pole, he is rocking back and forth and you see that he is behind the large swan wings. But in the next shot, he is in front of the wings as he pushes.

Revealing mistake: Marie and Nutcracker go down the river in a swan shaped boat, and Nutcracker is standing up on the back moving the boat along with large pole. In the water, you can see the reflection of the boat and Marie the way they are supposed to be. But the reflection of Nutcracker is not moving, and the pole is not reflected.

Continuity mistake: After the fruit people fall down, the camera pans over to a Christmas tree with lots of large red ornaments on it. You see The Nutcracker’s reflection come up on one as they move closer, and the reflection shows he has his arm outstretched pointing at something. The camera then cuts back to show Nutcracker and Marie, but his arm is not extended. He then lifts his arm to point.

Continuity mistake: Nutcracker and Marie walk by some large suckers as he says "We’re not in your closet anymore, Marie. We’re in Christmas Wood." There a lots of giant suckers to their right. The angle changes as they walk, and suddenly there is only one sucker where they just came from.

Audio problem: The Nutcracker pulls on a string in Marie’s wardrobe and a letter lowers from a sleeve of one of her dresses. Nutcracker grabs it and turns back saying “Hurry! Everyone will be waiting.” The dialog is not at all in sync with his mouth at this part. You hear him speak, and he almost finishes the line before his moves begin to move. Then once the audio stops, you see his mouth continue to move like he still speaks for a bit.

Continuity mistake: When Marie takes the Mouse King’s crowns off the Nutcracker’s sword, the camera cuts to behind the Nutcracker once they come off, and suddenly his sword becomes twice as thick.

Audio problem: After the Nutcracker kills the Seven Headed Mouse King and knocks on the bedroom door, Marie goes to open it. But you hear the sounds of the door creak opening a half second before her hand even touches the handle.

Continuity mistake: During their fight, the Seven Headed Mouse King knocks the Nutcracker’s sword away and the Nutcracker escapes by grabbing the draw string of the curtains and swings up to a small table. The Mouse King looks up at him a moment, right next to the draw string, very close to the table. He then runs towards it. The shot cuts to a different angle and suddenly he is much further away, running towards the table.

Continuity mistake: During their final fight, the Mouse King knocks the Nutcracker back against the wall and prepares to finish him off. The Nutcracker counters by grabbing the rug the Mouse King is standing on and tripping him, leaving the rug wrinkled and messy. A few shots later, the rug is suddenly perfectly placed on the floor again.

Continuity mistake: When Marie is shown waking up to the sounds of the sword fight, there is a shelf like mantel thing on the wall beside her with items on top. A bit later when she gets up to go see, the mantel becomes thinner and the items on top squeezed closer together.

But a couple shots later when Drosselmeier begins speaking, he is suddenly standing on the edge of the carpet.

Continuity mistake: After Drosselmeier and the scholar find the nut and Drosselmeier's cousin that can crack it, they return to the castle and walk into the throne room. When the door opens, they walk in almost single file, Drosselmeier first, followed by his cousin then the scholar. Then it cuts to a top view and suddenly Drosselmeier and his cousin are side by side with the scholar next to him, and the red carpet becomes smaller.

Audio problem: When Drosselmeier and his fellow adviser, the astrology scholar, run into Drosselmeier's cousin and are presented with the Crackatook nut, the scholar snatches it and then exclaims, "it is a Crackatook nut!" After he finishes saying that, his mouth continues to move for an extra syllable that looks like he says nut twice.

Other mistake: When the Mouse Queen is standing on the baby princess' crib, the baby's head is towards the wall with the hole which the Mouse Queen came out of. The Mouse Queen is standing at the baby's feet, with her back towards the nursemaids. Yet after she casts the spell on the princess, she leaps straight backwards in a back flip and somehow lands right next to the mouse hole. For that to have worked, she would have to have jumped over the baby's head the opposite direction.

Continuity mistake: When the 6 nursemaids are guarding the princess with cats in their laps, and all fall asleep, the camera pans across to show a mouse hole. When it cuts to a close up of the hole for the Mouse Queen to emerge from, the shape of the hole changes, becoming a more uniform shape.

Continuity mistake: After the Mouse Queen threatens to put a curse on the princess, the King calls his advisers, Drosselmeier and a bald guy with a beard, to find a way to prevent this from happening. The establishing shot from behind shows the bald guy standing almost in the center of the red carpet that leads to the thrones, and Drosselmeier is off to the side, not on the red carpet. It cuts to a frontal view of the two men, and suddenly both are on the red carpet at either edge.

Continuity mistake: In the montage of mice getting tricked by the traps Drosselmeier made, the second set is two mice jumping on the bed. Behind then is a table with candle and a cup. When it cuts to a close up of the mice, the candle is smaller and the cup changes shape.

Continuity mistake: After she knocks herself out, Marie awakens in bed cause Fritz is playing loudly at the foot of the bed. Shots from the perspective of anybody looking at the bed from the foot show that there are lots of studded animals on the trunk, the animals sitting against the railing at the foot of the bed. But the close ups of Fritz looking through the railing shows that the animals have vanished. They keep appearing or disappearing repeatedly throughout the scene, depending on the camera angle.

Continuity mistake: After Marie throws her shoe at the Seven Headed Mouse King, then slips and knocks herself out, she awakens the next morning in bed. The first shot of this is a close up, and the nightstand beside her shows the side of a lamp. This is the only shot where the lamp looks the way it does, with handles on the sided and a traditional lamp shape, ans is on the nightstand alone. After this, the lamp has a different style, and there is a book and cup with it on the nightstand.

Continuity mistake: When the battle starts, the Seven Headed Mouse King yells, "destroy them all!" and then knocks down the Nutcracker. The Mouse King's sheath has vanished from his side.

Continuity mistake: When the army of mice marches out of the fireplace, you can see between their legs behind them that the logs that were smoldering and smoking only a moment ago have disappeared. Then a few shots later when the mice are advancing on the toy soldiers, the fireplace is visible behind them and the logs are suddenly there again, and don't appear to be the slightest bit burned.

Continuity mistake: When Mari gets up from the chair to go put the Nutcracker away, she walks towards a china cabinet. You can see by the shapes of the items through the windows in the doors of the cabinet that it is full of various dishes. But when she opens it, it is suddenly full of dolls and doll accessories.

Continuity mistake: When Marie goes to sit down by the fireplace to care for the Nutcracker, who just had his teeth broken by Fritz, the chair has purple cushioning. Moments later when she is about to get back up, the chair changes styles, and the cushioning is blue.

Continuity mistake: After Fritz shoves too many nuts in the Nutcracker's mouth and breaks his teeth, he gives it back to Marie and she cries out, "now you can't have him!", in this shot only a few teeth are missing. About 1 from the top row, and 1 or 2 from the bottom row. After the shot of Fritz saying, "will I ever survive?" in a very sarcastic manner, it cuts back to Marie with the Nutcracker, and suddenly a lot more teeth are missing. About 2 or 3 from the top row, and 4 or so from the bottom row, and they are more spread out in the bottom row.

Continuity mistake: When the father takes the Nutcracker out of the tree, there is a bowl of nuts on the very edge of the table behind him. After the close up of him saying, "let me show you how it works first." It cuts to a different angle as he bends down to grab a nut, and the bowl has moved half way across the length of the table.

Continuity mistake: After the bell is rung, Marie and Fritz run over to where their gift from Godfather Drosselmeier is, still hidden under a veil by their parents. As they do, they rub past a table that is by the window, which is a considerable distance away from the Christmas tree by a few feet. But when Drosselmeier points out the Nutcracker hanging in the tree, the table is suddenly at most right up next to the tree.

Continuity mistake: When the toy castle is unveiled, the drawbridge is facing towards the Christmas tree, and is the same way in pretty much all the shots it is shown. But when Fritz scoffs and says "well it's kinda interesting" he walks off towards the tree. In the shot showing him heading to the tree, the drawbridge is suddenly facing the door, perpendicular to the tree.

Continuity mistake: Godfather Drosselmeier switches on the mechanisms in the toy castle to make the figures inside and around it begin moving as music begins playing from it as well. The soldier on the tower begins spinning around the tower. But after the kids look at it for a moment and then Fritz begin a asking in Drosselmeier to make the soldiers in it do different things, the figures have stopped moving, and in some shots disappear. Yet the music is still playing from the castle and the sounds of the mechanical components moving can still be heard.

Continuity mistake: When the father pulls the cover off the toy castle that's Drosselmeier's gift to Marie and Fritz, there are no soldiers visible in or on any of the towers. But when there is a close up of Marie asking how Drosselmeier got in, there is a soldier on the tower next to her head. Then the camera cuts to a different angle as Drosselmeier approaches and the same tower is visible, but with no soldier.

Continuity mistake: After you hear Godfather Drosselmeier off screen say, "That's not amazing!" the camera then cuts to him walking in the door to the living room. Beside the door on a mantel is a large round vase with a bushy green plant in it, and there is a picture frame on the wall with a red picture in it. Then it cuts to a close up of Drosselmeier saying "I'll show you amazing." Suddenly the vase is much smaller and shaped like a cup, the plant is now flowers, tulips by the looks of them, the picture in the frame on the wall turns blue with clouds in it, and a stand up picture frame and green box suddenly appear on the mantel next to the vase.

Other mistake: After Marie and Fritz take off to the Christmas tree in the first scene where they talk to their parents, Fritz is shown pulling toy soldiers off the tree to play with. In the first shot of the tree, Fritz stands back up from the toys he has already taken down and reaches for another one. There is nothing in his hands. The spot he reaches for has nothing in it, but as soon as his hands reach that part, a toy soldier suddenly appears in the spot he touches, without the camera cutting. And then in the next shot he bends down and puts his hands on his toys as if he is placing the toy soldier with the rest, but there is again nothing in his hands.

Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the film when it is showing several townsfolk mingling in the snowy streets, a horse drawn carriage with a driver and a woman holding a present goes by a brick house. A few shots later after you see a guy waving, the same carriage with passengers goes by, again in the same direction.

Continuity mistake: When Marie and Nutcracker are in Christmas Wood, some shooting stars fall to them and turn into sugar plums. In the first shot there are 3 of them, but when it cuts to the next shot where they turn into plums, suddenly there are 5. Then when the plums come down and begin circling around Nutcracker and Marie, there are 8 of them.
