Character mistake: Dean told Laura that Fiona's toiletry case was in his bag because "She couldn't fit it in her carry-on, so I put it in my luggage." Laura (who had no reason to fabricate the story to her dad Felix) changed the details, which she couldn't know based on what Dean told her: "There were some of his co-worker's toiletries in his luggage. But she couldn't put them in her carry-on for security, so he offered to put them in his luggage." Unable to fit in isn't the same as "for security." (00:13:05 - 00:23:57)
Factual error: Rich told Jamie, "There was a car accident. Guy came in. I cut when I should've stitched or stitched when I should've cut. I don't even know. His family sued in civil court, and I lost everything." A doctor working at a hospital would have been required to carry malpractice insurance, which would have protected him from "losing everything." Also, it would be difficult to prove that a car accident victim who died during surgery was a victim of malpractice; most cases are settled out of court. (00:38:30)
Other mistake: Based on where Carol is standing near the top of the stairs of her new apartment, more of the couch behind her should be to the left of the screen (like it is in a later shot). (00:48:10)
Continuity mistake: Bernice's bangs go back and forth between having a small section separated from the rest to not separated. Before she kisses Thomas, her bangs are separated, but combed together when they are done kissing. (00:21:56)
Other mistake: "Sally" the Great White Shark rammed Emma into a rock (or other hard object) underwater and Emma only got a small cut above her right elbow. It isn't clear how fast Sally was swimming, but Emma was rammed with force (and appeared to hit her back). A female Great White Shark weighs about 4,000 or 5,000 pounds, so Emma would be expected to suffer a major (not minor) injury under the circumstances. (00:05:24)
Continuity mistake: Maggie was holding two bottles (clear containing a green liquid) in her right hand and set them on the table together with one at an angle behind the other. She moved her hand away and when the camera shifted to a wide view, the bottles were side-by-side (horizontal to the screen) with more space between them. Also, both bottles were almost full, but had less in them when Maggie handed one to Grace at the airport. (Maggie may have had a sip out of hers, but not Grace's; both looked unopened). (00:03:33 - 00:04:25)
Other mistake: When Lomito was holding the little green ball with the smiley face on it, her flashlight was shining on her fingers/fingernails - all of which were long and manicured. The length of her fake fingernails - even if they did not exceed the department's policy on maximum length, such as one-fourth inch past the fingertip - probably were long enough to interfere with her ability to quickly put her finger on her pistol's trigger and shoot; the length interfered with her ability to perform her duties. (00:31:25)
Continuity mistake: While sitting on the couch, Peter suddenly has a clump of hair sticking up near the back of his left-sided part that disappears but reappears after some camera shifts. (00:01:20 - 00:01:42)
Continuity mistake: When Oliver is pushing injured Michelle in a chair down the hallway, they are approaching a long row of student lockers. When the camera shifts to a front view, they are near a stairwell and the short walls behind them are cement and brick with no lockers before the door. (00:41:05)
Revealing mistake: After the kids take their seats at the game, the people behind them change, indicating the use of a green screen. (00:13:00)
Revealing mistake: Near the beginning of the movie, there does not appear to be a curtain (or window) on the left side of the screen (e.g, when Samantha is sitting on the couch), but there is near the end when Chloe enters the now-empty room. The use of a green screen seemed apparent throughout the movie. (00:04:19 - 01:23:04)
Continuity mistake: After Wes was clobbered and on the floor, he had a long stream of water/mucus coming out of his nose or mouth and his lips were wet when he was standing up, but his lips/mouth/nose were totally dry when the killer put his gloved hand over Wes' right shoulder. (00:33:40)
Continuity mistake: On the train, Margaret's hair had a distinct uneven, broken part (the middle section running parallel to the first and third lines), but her part was linear when she got to work. Also, in the hallway, some hair was raised near the back of her head in front views but not in rear views. (00:04:15 - 00:04:40)
Continuity mistake: At the "Wave Hair Salon", Ms. Gordon has a curler/roller at the top of her forehead. In some shots, it is straight, but in other shots it is angled. A little later, Christine goes over to Ms. Gordon and starts rolling down the curler to the top of her forehead as if for the first time. (00:08:04 - 00:08:47)
Continuity mistake: Kelly was wearing a white thermal top over a white sleeveless undershirt. After he was thrown into the garbage can, his white thermal top was wet against his back, so he was no longer wearing the undershirt. (00:03:54 - 00:05:43)
Continuity mistake: The direction of the desk lamp's flexible neck varies with the camera's angle. Front views of Rodger show the top of the neck aimed toward the outer edge (length) of the desk and rear views of Rodger show the top of the desk lamp's neck pointed toward him sitting at the desk. (01:02:00)
Continuity mistake: Yi-Na had her head turned to the right while her dad Sang-Won was talking to her from the front seat and, eventually, Yi-Na closed her eyes. After a camera shift, Yi-Na's eyes were still closed, but her head was turned to the left. (00:04:17)
Continuity mistake: When the family stopped along the road for a break, the car towing the camper was parked diagonally to the left (not aligned with the camper). The car was visible behind Alan when he was talking to Ben, but it was not when Alan was walking toward Tyler and Charlie. Also, Alan and Ben were at various distances from the camper. (00:13:16 - 00:14:20)
Continuity mistake: The amount/shape/size of the blood/cut on the bridge of Joey's nose varies, as does the obvious presence or absence of blood on the right side of his nose. (00:42:32 - 00:43:50)
Factual error: The movie is set in the 80s (you can see tell for instance by the driving license of the old woman, which uses the 80s template and has a 1985 date), but the police plays the suicide tape on a Panasonic PV-4614, which is a late 90s model of VHR. Same goes for the Sony video camera used to tape the murder, definitely from the 90s. (00:19:00)
