Trivia: Retired make-up effects maestro Rick Baker (who did the Samara effects in the first two films before his retirement in 2015), has a small cameo as a man at the flea market in the film. While his lines were cut, he is still visible in the background of the scene. Members of his former makeup team took up the mantle and supplied the Samara effects in this sequel.

Trivia: The previous two "Transformers" films both earned over $1 billion worldwide at the box office, and this fifth film was considered such a guaranteed hit, nearly a dozen more films set in the "Transformers" universe were planned before its release. However, the movie ended up bringing in the lowest grosses of the entire series, and has as of July 18, 2017, only brought in just over $500 million worldwide- only half of what the previous two films earned.

Trivia: At one point, this was mathematically the best-reviewed film of all time on Rotten Tomatoes, briefly surpassing the honor held by Toy Story 2. Upon learning this, Cole Smithey - who calls himself the world's smartest film critic and is known for having contrarian reviews - deliberately changed his review from "fresh" to "rotten," as he didn't feel the film deserved the distinction of being the best-reviewed film of all time.
Trivia: Lucas told Mr. Butler that his mother died when he was very young. Assuming this is true, when his dad asked him, "Is there anything you want me to tell your mother for you?" his father was planning on committing suicide or believed Lucas was going to kill him. (The empty prescription bottles suggest suicide). (01:12:48)

Trivia: Spoilers: The film reveals that Jack suffers from a form of dissociative identity disorder (DID) and began hallucinating and acting out the "roles" of his siblings after they were murdered by their father. That makes this the second movie in as many years in which actress Anya Taylor-Joy plays a protagonist character who must contend with a man who has DID. The other film was "Split" in 2016. Albeit, Jack is a much more sympathetic figure than Kevin from "Split."
Trivia: Sam Rockwell did ride-alongs with a Los Angeles police officer to prepare for his role. He also shadowed a police officer in Missouri, on whom he based his accent and some of his dialogue, as director Martin McDonagh didn't want Rockwell to use a strong Ozark accent.
