Question: Just to clarify Stu's plan. He wanted Lenore dead to take the life insurance policy which he was gonna pay Malenkov with? And would frame Brian to put him in jail?
Answer: Stuart told Bryan that he owed a large debt to his former business partner and ex-Spetsnaz operative, Oleg Malankov. To pay him off, Stuart had Lenore murdered for the insurance money. He framed Bryan and revealed his identity to Malankov because he was jealous that Lenore still loved Bryan.
Question: What exactly were Atlee's intentions with Ilsa? Why did he originally send her to infiltrate the Syndicate and why did he send her back later in the movie? If all he wants to do is keep the Syndicate hidden, what does he hope to accomplish with Ilsa as his woman on the inside? Does he actually know what is on the flashdrive she brings him, or does he also think it's a ledger? It makes sense for him to want to delete it in both cases, so I'm confused trying to figure out which it is. Either way, does Atlee send her back to get killed? Hunt later says he wanted to "frame" her, but I don't understand how.
Answer: When Lane took the Syndicate rogue, Atlee no longer had any control or oversight into the group, so he sent Ilsa Faust to infiltrate them and report to him what Lane was doing. The CIA and IMF already knew about the Syndicate so it was no longer hidden, and Atlee just needed to cover up his role in its creation. As Faust was already undercover there, he could also frame her for any connection to MI6 that might be revealed, particularly if she was killed and could no longer incriminate him.
Question: Bond was 12 when his parents were killed, and spent the next 2 years with his guardian, who taught him to ski, climb and hunt before his death. It is mentioned a few times that it happened 20 years ago, making Bond 34, but he's clearly much older - just wondered if I was missing something here.
Answer: It is mentioned that Oberhauser died 20 years ago. This could have been many years after James stopped living with him.
Question: The end of the movie shows the older brother giving the necklace back to her, but it never shows when she lost it. Am I missing something?
Answer: You haven't missed anything. After the successful CPR, Blake is still wearing the two heart necklaces, but a considerable amount of time passes between then and when Ben gives them back to her, so we can presume that the necklaces had fallen off at some point in between. Since Blake had taken it upon herself to wear her sister's necklace with her own, the two chains could have been clasped together (which I've done myself), as if one.
Answer: Yes it is.
