Best romance movie mistakes of 1985
Continuity mistake: Near the end of the movie, when Parker and Hunt are on the bus going to the contest, you'll see that Parker's hair is in waves. But when she arrives at the studio, her hair is VERY curly. Its not likely that she had time to change her hairstyle THAT drastically if she was pressed for time as she very clearly was.
Plot hole: When Schaeffer, McFee, and Fergie drive to the Lapp farm to kill John, the car stops on top of a hill. Then it reverses a bit to be out of sight from the farm. But then the formerly careful guys get out and walk down the open road, sporting their guns like in an Italo western.
Other mistake: Just after Isabeau falls from the abbey tower and turns into Ladyhawke, a soldier emerges onto the roof of the tower and questions Phillipe. An arrow is then fired (by Navarre) into the left-side of the soldier. However, he initially grabs at his right-side. After a couple of seconds he correctly grabs at his left-side, before falling off the tower.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where everyone is going to the Tanning Invitational, Chris grabs two Hawaiian Lei's and a straw hat from a girl at the door. He puts a blue lei on Mitch and holds on to the red one and the hat. The shot switches to just Chris and when it goes back to Mitch he has on the red lei. Back to Chris again who talks a little more then reaches over and puts the hat on Mitch's head, who is again wearing the blue lei.
Plot hole: The beginning takes place in the early 1960's, Bobby being around 18 years old. Assuming its 1962 and he conceived Lenny in this year, 17 years later would be 1979-1980. This movie is suppose to take place in present day 1985. There is about a 5-6 year issue with time.
Factual error: There is a scene in which the Catholic high school boys are lined up to go to Confession to a priest. One of the minor characters is a compulsive masturbator, a recurring gag in the film. He is trying to estimate how many times he has wanked since his last Confession, and Kevin Dillon's character takes out a digital calculator to help him figure it out. The film is set in 1965, about 8 years before personal calculators hit the market. (I was precisely the age of the characters in 1965, and we would have sold our souls to the devil for such a device. It was still science fiction!).
