Continuity mistake: Sarah sits in her fake room, picks up the book, 'The Labyrinth' and is seen in her reflection. She then says, "Through dangers...take back the child you have stolen." When the Junk Lady asks, "Don't you like your toys?" and also when she gives Sarah the music box, Sarah is seen. In each shot the things behind Sarah's shoulders and in front of her are different, yet, the Junk Lady did not add anything between these shots. (01:13:10)

Continuity mistake: Dumbledore asks, "Why then did the Sorting Hat place you in Gryffindor?" and in this close-up the Sorting Hat sits on two books. In the next shot, as Harry answers, "Because I asked it to." The hat now sits on three books in this close-up. During this entire scene in Dumbledore's study, things including the Sorting Hat and lamp behind Dumbledore to his right, change position depending on camera angle. (02:18:00 - 02:20:20)

Continuity mistake: When Sarah holds Toby and says, "Knock it off, come on. Stop it. Stop it," her ring is on her middle finger. However in the wide shot, still holding Toby, she says, "I can bear it no longer..." her ring is now on her ring finger. (00:08:30)

Continuity mistake: After Frodo wakes up in Minas Tirith, Merry and Pippin stand in the doorway. Their height reaches the middle of the ornate carving on the door in the close-up, but in their next wide shot running in, they are much shorter. When Legolas and Aragorn walk in, also in a close-up, their height is just a bit higher on that ornate carving than the two Hobbits' heights were. Then when Sam stands in the doorway his height also reaches the center of the carving. (02:51:20)

Continuity mistake: Unable to make his shadow stick Peter is upset and when Wendy surprises him he zooms up to the ceiling and bangs his head. In this shot the light fixture hangs flush with the ceiling under a decorative medallion around the base. Later, when Peter floats to the ceiling after John says, "You offend reason sir" the fixture now hangs way down on a very long chain. (00:15:00 - 00:21:15)

Continuity mistake: Wendy gets a needle and thread, then shows Peter the needle. As she says, "This may hurt a little," she shows the sharp needle to him. When she does the light in the room becomes brighter at this point (not a deliberate pun) as compared to the dimly lit nursery until this moment. It stays brightly lit until they leave for Neverland. Continuity mistake: When Wendy awakens, she opens the door to find the Lost Boys standing there looking 'lovable'. The shots from the interior shows Wendy's hand on the door with her arm outstretched while she remains inside. Yet in the exterior shots she is standing outside the door frame. (00:37:15)

Visible crew/equipment: Jareth says, "Sarah, don't defy me," and tosses the snake at her neck. In the next shot facing Sarah as she holds the snake, a crew member's hand is seen holding the end of the 'snake' below her right shoulder. (00:13:25)

Continuity mistake: When John says, "You offend reason sir," Peter floats up. The large light fixture is hanging from the ceiling. However, in the next shot facing Peter when he says, "Just think happy thoughts," where is the light fixture? It's gone so Peter can fly around the ceiling, but it's back again in later shots. Continuity mistake: After Smeagol kills Deagol, Smeagol opens up Deagol's fist to claim the Ring. In the first shot, Smeagol leans over Deagol, then Smeagol's right hand holds Deagol's wrist and Smeagol's left hand opens Deagol's fingers. Yet in the close-up, now Smeagol's left hand hold's Deagol's wrist and Smeagol's right hand opens Deagol's fingers to reveal the Ring. (00:04:20)

Continuity mistake: In one of the final scenes of the movie, Frodo is writing in the book "There and Back Again," adding his own story. As he is finishing, he clutches the wound he received from one of the Nazgul in "The Fellowship of the Ring." Frodo does put the quill down, but that happens before he gets the pain in his chest. Frodo has the quill in his hand when he starts to write again. Frodo is not shown putting the quill down between these next consecutive shots. In the first close-up, Frodo has the quill in his hand as he clutches his chest, because of the pain. Next shot, Sam enters the room. In the next consecutive shot, Frodo, who is still clutching the pain in his chest, does not have the quill in his hand. (03:01:50)

Continuity mistake: In the second half of the film, Frodo has a scar on his lower right cheek, close to his chin. Many times throughout the rest of the film the scar changes position and size on his right cheek. It also appears on his left cheek in flipped shots (most obviously on the slopes of Mount Doom when Sam is cradling his head). (02:31:05 - 02:34:00)

Trivia: When the Hobbits enter Bree, right after the wheel of the carriage passes in front of them, there is a man you see to the right who's holding a carrot and burps. That is Peter Jackson making a cameo appearance.
Continuity mistake: When Jack first confronts Will at the blacksmith shop, seen behind Jack, hanging on the stone wall near the fireplace are iron masks and other paraphernalia. Later, when Jack sprays the soot at Will, the iron masks and paraphernalia are arranged differently on the wall. (00:23:00 - 00:26:15)
Continuity mistake: Jack removes Anamaria's hat, in the front shot her hair falls down, and in the next back shot, her hair falls again. Also, the striped scarf around her forehead changes in the arrangement of the stripes in different shots. In the front shots the yellow stripe is on top, but in the side shots the grey stripe is on top. (01:02:05)
Continuity mistake: During Jack's escape, as he's swinging about, in the background of this shot, the Dauntless is not seen moored, as it was in all the previous shots of Jack's opening scene, including being seen past Interceptor, from the angle of the running British Royal Navy. (00:19:55)
Visible crew/equipment: When the dock master tells Jack, "Hold up there you. It's a shilling...," seen in the background on the left of the screen is a thatched roof enclosure. An orange aluminum ladder is sitting under the thatch. Many of the crew's orange aluminum ladders of various heights can be seen on DVD 2. (00:10:10)

Continuity mistake: When Faramir kneels in front of Sam and Frodo, in the close-up the hand of a Ranger is on Sam's shoulder. The hand and short fingernails are very dirty. After Faramir's lieutenant says, "You know the laws of our country..." the hand and longer fingernails are clean. Then in the next close-up the hand and short fingernails are dirty again. Sam's hood, hair, etc. differ in these shots too. (01:37:30)

Continuity mistake: Sam helps Frodo up and says, "There's some good in this world," then Faramir walks over and the Hobbits face him. Sam's rolled blanket is seen high up on his back, above his shoulders. Yet in the very next close-up, which is a flipped shot, the blanket is way down on his back, way below his shoulders. Frodo's hair is completely different in both shots too. (01:36:55)

Continuity mistake: When Kyle is sleeping on the couch, in the wide shots from upstairs and downstairs the golf bag is behind his right shoulder. In the close-ups the golf clubs are behind his left shoulder. The sandwich, paper towel, mustard bottle, lamp behind couch also change in these shots. (00:04:35)
