Continuity mistake: In her office, when Umbridge adds sugar to her tea, she places the spoon on the saucer. When Harry walks in and she says, "You're going to be doing some lines today," there is a close-up of the tea cup and the spoon is gone. After a brief close-up of Harry, the spoon reappears. Visible crew/equipment: When Hermione and Harry go back in time, they duck and hide from Malfoy (after being punched) and his friends as they leave. The bulging rectangular outline of the transmitter (for hidden cordless mic) is visible at her lower back, under her pink jacket. It is visible in a few shots, including when they are at the pumpkin patch. The outline of Harry's transmitter is visible at his back, as he bows to Buckbeak at the pumpkin patch, when they rescue him. (01:45:10)

Continuity mistake: On the Hogwarts Express, when Harry writes "Sirius Black" on the envelope it is written in thick black ink. However, in the next shot when the envelope is in Hedwig's beak, the name is written in thin ink, and the writing differs. (00:14:35)

Revealing mistake: In the Forbidden Forest, HRH are introduced to Grawp. Just as the giant lifts Hermione off the ground, in the shot from behind her, Hermione's legs disappear below her calves; the digital lines are actually visible. Slow-mo is not necessary. Continuity mistake: In the Great Hall, when Dumbledore says, "Good evening children, I have two changes in staffing this year," we see Fred and George Weasley sitting in the fifth and sixth seats, and the other students near the end of the Gryffindor table. Next shot facing Dumbledore, we see the last seven students at that side of the table and not only are the Weasleys gone, but other students differ as well. This is also seen in additional shots. Continuity mistake: When Harry and Cedric are transported to the cemetery, the Triwizard cup lands on the grassy slope, well beyond the Riddle monument, with its luminescent top facing away from the cauldron area. During Priori Incantatem, three shots after Voldemort exclaims, "He's mine!" the cup lies on the corner of the Riddle monument's stone base and it faces the opposite way. The cup is back up on the grassy area in the following shots. (01:19:00 - 01:28:40)

Continuity mistake: At the cemetery, when Harry is trapped at the statue, Voldemort raises his right arm and places his finger on Harry's forehead stating, "I can touch you now." While Voldemort's arm remains raised his sleeve slides down towards his shoulder, but is back up at his elbow in the close-up. He seems to have the same problem in other shots during this scene. Continuity mistake: After the 3rd task, as Moody is taking Harry back into the school, the camera cuts back to the students. Neville stands to the left (viewer's right) of Viktor Krum and the Bulgarians. In the next shot Neville stands to the left (viewer's right) of a girl, who is seen in the next shot standing beside Ron, Hermione and other students (not the Bulgarians); Neville is out of place during these shots.

Continuity mistake: When Harry is in Umbridge's office to do lines, there is a framed photo of her beloved Cornelius and a bowl of potpourri at the corner of her desk. In the overhead shot of Harry, as he begins to write, the frame has moved towards the center of the desk. (00:36:35 - 00:37:30)

Continuity mistake: When Harry and Arthur Weasley head toward the sidewalk with the Ministry's phone booth, we see the asphalt they walk on. In the next shot of that street, there is a puddle of water precisely where they both walked puddle-free a second earlier. (00:17:20)

Continuity mistake: After Wormtail performs the Avada Kedavra curse and then raises the "bone of the father," he places Voldemort's wand inside the left side of his coat, before he slices off his right hand. When Voldemort says, "My wand Wormtail," Wormtail retrieves the wand from the right side of his coat. (01:56:00 - 01:57:40)

Continuity mistake: In the cemetery, just after Voldemort shouts, "He's mine!" when he faces off with Harry during Priori Incantatem, in this specific overhead wide shot, which is directly over Cedric's body and the Triwizard Cup in the foreground, the Cup is only a couple of feet away from Cedric's feet; whereas in a previous wide shot, when Voldemort says, "Here you stand before me as though it were only yesterday..." both the trophy and Cedric's body are seen at the top of the screen (with the Riddle monument in between), and the Triwizard Cup is quite a distance away, at least 4-5 feet, from Cedric's body. Continuity mistake: After Harry enters the Gryffindor Common Room, when Seamus stands up his white shirt is untucked just a bit at his back. As he stands with his hands at his sides, in the next shot from behind Seamus, now the entire shirttail is untucked. (00:32:10)

Continuity mistake: After the Yule Ball, when Neville walks into the dormitory, his shoes hang round his neck by their laces. While he says, "You alright Harry?" in Neville's first close-up his black collar lies flat, the shoes' laces hang round his white shirt and the heels touch. In the second shot his black collar is flipped up around his neck, the shoes' laces hang round the black collar and heels are about four inches apart. Then, in the third shot it reverts back, as in the first shot.

Continuity mistake: There are two scenes during which Harry is shown having visions of the Dept of Mysteries while he is asleep. The first scene occurs after Harry's confrontation with Seamus in the Gryffindor common room. There are shots of Harry lying in bed wearing a short sleeve, crew neck tee shirt, but when he is startled awake by the vision of Voldemort, he sits up wearing a buttoned henley tee. The next day is the first day of Defence Against the Dark Arts class with Umbridge. That last shot of Harry in the henley tee shirt was cut from a later scene. Later in the film, when Harry has the vision of Arthur Weasley's attack, he is wearing the henley tee shirt. (00:34:00 - 01:09:35)
Revealing mistake: On the way to Isla de Muerta aboard Interceptor, during the storm there is a close-up of Jack's hand holding the compass. There are many other close-ups of Jack's hand in the movie, but in this particular close-up, it is not Johnny Depp's hand holding the compass. Depp's fingers are slim and normal looking, but in this close-up Jack's thumb is stout and has a severely enlarged/deformed metacarpal at the base of the thumb joint (likely arthritis). (01:03:35)

Continuity mistake: After Gerry gets smacked in the face by the 'broken' suspender clasp, we see the silver clasp land under the dresser. Yet, when he's moaning and lifting his leg to get onto the bed, we can actually see the clasp still intact on the front suspender that came loose, which is dangling right behind him (just look between his legs). Of course, in the next shot, that clasp is gone. Since the silver clasp is one of the plot points, this is bizarre to say the least. (00:11:10)

Continuity mistake: After Holly and Gerry’s argument near the start, when Gerry begins his little dance in boxers, as he removes his leather jacket one of the back suspender clasps comes undone. When he lies down beside Holly, both back clasps are on properly. (00:10:45)

Revealing mistake: En route to the pick-up truck hanging from the freeway on-ramp, there is a flipped shot of Engine 51 and Squad 51 as they drive under the freeway before the camera pans in towards the car. Some giveaways are the reversed '51' on Engine 51 and the reversed 'road construction ahead' sign.

Continuity mistake: The shaving foam on DeSoto's face changes between the face-on shots and the reflection shots, and in the reflection he shaved from cheek to chin, but in face-on shots only to the neck.
