Continuity mistake: While Harry is communicating with Riddle's diary, after the words "let me take you back fifty years ago" appear on the page, the ink pot's lid is open as the diary pages flip and Harry lifts the book, but in the shot from Harry's POV we see the ink pot lid closed, then the lid is open again when Harry's transported.

Revealing mistake: In Harry's bedroom, when Harry and Dobby grapple with the lamp, just as Harry says, "Give me the lamp!" Dobby's left hand is between both of Harry's hands gripping the lamp stem, but in the reflection we do not see Dobby's hand, or arm, as he moves about on the desk, nor do we see the fingers of his right hand which grips the base. In this shot what we do see in the reflection are Harry, his hands, the lamp base, stem, shade and cord. No Dobby. (00:05:30)

Continuity mistake: In the Chamber, when Harry runs from the Basilisk he ends up at a gated dead end, with steel bars that are embedded in a circular stone wall. When Harry crouches down, as the Basilisk's face nears, the manner in which the bars are embedded in the stone is actually quite different. (02:11:00)

Other mistake: While downstairs Vernon hears Hedwig's squawks, as well as Dobby and Harry's exchange in the bedroom upstairs, distracting enough for them all, including the Masons, to take note. The noise upstairs illicits a reaction from everyone, which Vernon explains is a noisy cat. Yet when Harry very noisily chases Dobby down the steps, Dobby slams into the wall and Harry lands with a loud thud (not remotely 'catlike'), Vernon, who stands on the other side of the shared wall, pleasantly continues his story to his rapt guests, who are also not distracted by the noise. To suggest that such loud noises coming from the hallway right beside them would not draw any reaction from anyone, Vernon and the Masons included, is preposterous. (00:06:45)

Audio problem: As Harry escapes into the car, Ron leans forward, puts his left arm in front of Harry and although we hear him say, "I've got you, Harry!" Ron's lips remain apart, with teeth are clenched, and his mouth does not move. (00:09:45)

Visible crew/equipment: After returning from the Chamber of Secrets, Ron and Harry are in Dumbledore's study when he says, "There is sufficient evidence to have you both expelled," and on the floor behind his chair is a broad bright white tape mark at the edge of the rug. (02:18:00)

Visible crew/equipment: After Harry climbs up the side of Salazar Slytherine's stone head in the Chamber of Secrets, the first time the Basilisk slams his face into the stone in the wide shot, the bottom of a crew member's denim pant leg and shoe are bizarrely visible lying on a work surface, beneath the stone head's beard. Visible crew/equipment: While in the Whomping Willow, the window on Ron's side of the car shatters. In the next exterior shot, as the tree limb comes smashing down on the roof, a large piece of the stunt equipment is quite visible at the back bumper of the car. (00:27:25)

Visible crew/equipment: When Harry and Ron are under the invisibility cloak in Hagrid's hut, Hagrid, Dumbledore and Fudge are joined by Lucius Malfoy. In the wide shot as Malfoy steps in, all the mats - their marks - are visible under Malfoy, Fudge and Dumbledore. Then later Dumbledore says, "If the governors desire my removal, I will of course.." and in the shot facing Malfoy as he finishes, "..step aside," the mat that Malfoy now stands on is visible as is the blue mark behind his feet. It's also visible in an earlier shot after he announces the order of suspension. The mat at the foot of Hagrid's chair disappears as well. (Visible on fullscreen DVD.) (01:39:35 - 01:40:55)

Visible crew/equipment: When Harry is in the hospital wing, after Dobby's visit a petrified Colin is carried in. Madame Pomfrey's mark - a mat, is at the foot of Colin's bed, that was not there in the previous shots, when Madame Pomfrey was not there. (01:02:15)

Visible crew/equipment: After Harry, Ron and Hermione discover the bloody writing on the wall and petrified Mrs. Norris other students start arriving. After the overhead shot, at the start of the next close-up as Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle come round the corner, under Goyle's feet the taped mat is visible on the floor and it was not there in the previous overhead shot. Visible crew/equipment: In his study, Dumbledore speaks to Lucius Malfoy and holds up the skewered diary for Malfoy to see. When Dumbledore puts the diary down in this shot as Dobby tugs on Harry's sleeve the moving black wire between Dobby and Malfoy on Dobby's left is visible on the bottom of the screen. This wire was attached to Harry's sleeve to make it move and though the wire between Dobby and Harry was edited out, the other end was not. (Visible on fullscreen DVD.) (02:22:50)

Continuity mistake: In the first overhead shot of Dumbledore's study as he presumably starts to discipline Harry and Ron the corner of the rug below lies flat and evenly under Fawkes' perch. However when Dumbledore stands up to hand Ron the letter for Azkaban the rug differs greatly, though it has not been touched. (02:17:55)

Trivia: When Harry, Ron and Fang begin to walk through the Dark Forest there is a close-up of Fang walking towards the camera. At the start of the next shot, at the bottom right of the screen the Ford Anglia is visible. Although the scene of them seeing the car before it rescues them is deleted, this one shot remains of the car 'watching' them. (01:43:40)

Audio problem: While Harry and Hagrid walk down Diagon Alley, as this shot opens Hermione runs toward Harry and just as Harry comes into view he is mouthing his line to Hermione, yet his voice is not heard, only Hermione's voice is heard. (00:17:25)

Trivia: In Philosopher's Stone (2001), Hagrid taps the bricks behind the Leaky Cauldron and as the bricks start to rearrange themselves creating the doorway, pause the film for the quick glance at the old green sign that reads, "Flourish & Blotts" which hangs over the corner bookstore. This is the bookstore in Chamber of Secrets that Harry and Hagrid pass on their way out of Knockturn Alley, but the old green sign obviously reads something else as it is not the setting for Flourish & Blotts in this film.

Visible crew/equipment: While Harry is in Dumbledore's study, in the two semi-overhead shots as Lucius Malfoy says, "So it's true. You have returned," and later when he says, "Come Dobby, we're leaving," sitting on the floor directly behind Dumbledore is a large STEEL piece of the crew's equipment, plus in the second shot another piece of equipment actually moves in front of the steel piece. Continuity mistake: When Harry holds the page about the Basilisk that Hermione tore out of a book, in the two close-ups of that page the bottom left side is crookedly ripped into the words. However, in the wide shots as Harry holds it that side of the page is ripped straight down. (01:52:35)

Visible crew/equipment: In the girls' lavatory Ron pushes Lockhart into the opening of the Chamber and in the shot looking up as Lockhart falls, at the upper right corner the side of a man's FACE is visible near the sink and when Ron jumps something else is there. (01:59:35)

Continuity mistake: In the girls' lavatory, when Harry inspects the sink that Moaning Myrtle points out, the pattern of the stains on the porcelain are all visible. However, when the sink descends the stains are actually different. (01:57:55 - 01:58:55)
