Quotes
Sam: It's like in the great stories Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end it's only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines it'll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something even if you were too small to understand why. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand, I know now folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That there's some good in the world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.
Mistakes
When Legolas and another Elf are dragging Gimli back to the Keep, in the front view the Elf's quiver is empty. Yet in the next shot from behind, the Elf has many arrows in the quiver on his back. The arrows would be seen from the front, because they are way above his shoulder in the back shot. See more...
Trivia
The two people who spent three years creating the chain mail costumes and costume pieces no longer had any fingerprints on their index finger and thumb by the time they had finished. Peter Jackson jokingly said that they would now be able to commit a crime with 4 fingers. See more...
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Continuity: Sam helps Frodo up and says, "There's some good in this world," then Faramir walks over and the Hobbits face him. Sam's rolled blanket is seen high up on his back, above his shoulders. Yet in the very next close-up, which is a flipped shot, the blanket is way down on his back, way below his shoulders. Frodo's hair is completely different in both shots too.
