Continuity mistake: When TC gets off the phone he tells the others that somebody must go to the Sea Palms Hotel, room 401. During their joint mission, Magnum responds to TC on the walkie and tells him he'll call back when he's in the room. Continuity mistake: While Norm Vogel is meeting with a man at the Hawaii Museum, getting information about the tiny shells from Alea's necklace, in the wide shot we see the map with the island of Molokai, when they walk over to it. In the next closeup of the map, there are now three small (fictional) islands north of the island of Molokai, which have been deliberately drawn onto the map for this closeup. (00:32:50)
Continuity mistake: When Magnum takes one of the outrigger canoes, the paddle he uses to paddle away from the island has a normal handle, but in the overhead wide shot facing Magnum's back, he's using a paddle with a T-grip handle, then it's back to the paddle with a normal handle in following shots. Continuity mistake: While Rick goes around asking if anyone's seen Magnum, there's a closeup of Rita as she pulls back one side of her blouse to admire her new tattoo, and in this closeup she's wearing a watch with a silver face and her new tattoo has a horizontal curve, but in the next shot Rita's watch is a smaller all black style and the tattoo is now more vertical. Continuity mistake: When Magnum is at Koho Bar to find Ilima, in the shot facing Mr. Parker he angrily raises his right arm and points at Magnum, but in the next shot it's Mr. Parker's left arm that's raised. (00:33:25)
Continuity mistake: After Magnum follows Will's trail on horseback he continues on foot, and when Magnum reaches the cliff he runs across the edge without wearing gloves, but in Magnum's next semi-closeup the gloves suddenly appear on both of his hands. (00:35:40)
Continuity mistake: When Magnum, TC, and Rabbi Solomon are taken at gunpoint into the meat freezer, the lighting control box is on the wall beside the doorway, then when Magnum whispers his darkness idea to Rabbi Solomon, the control box shown in the closeup is entirely different. (00:43:10)

Continuity mistake: While Carol has Fornier and Magnum in her office, Fornier explains he's just visiting as a tourist and she responds that he's illegally carrying a gun. In the next shot of Carol's torso there are changes which include, Carol's ring is missing from her left hand, and in this shot her blouse has buttons though there shouldn't be any, etc. (00:20:25)

Continuity mistake: While we hear Higgins in voiceover as the flame is moved closer to his hand, there is a segue to Magnum's voiceover as he reads the typed words of Higgins' memoir, which we see onscreen. Continuity mistake: When Rick and Alexis try to escape in the chopper the baddies stop them, and when two of them leave with Alexis in their car, the rearview mirror repeatedly vanishes and reappears. (00:46:10)
Continuity mistake: When Magnum and Rick find TC's office wrecked, Rick picks up a brochure and holds it out to Magnum in his right hand, with the team ring on his finger, but in the next closeup the ring has vanished. (00:41:50)
Continuity mistake: At the hospital, there's a push button desk phone on the table between Lee's and Magnum's beds. There are two closeups of this telephone when both Lee and Magnum lift the handset, and the entire telephone changes to a multi-line desk phone. Plus, in Lee's handset closeup, his hospital ID bracelet changes from narrow to twice the width, and in Magnum's handset closeup, the large floral box of tissues change to a short box of tissues. Continuity mistake: When Greene shows Magnum the photograph of Nuzo, in this closeup Nuzo is wearing a black shirt and a black band around his forehead, but when Greene places the photo on the desk it's completely different, with the subject wearing white and no headband.
Continuity mistake: When Magnum and JL escape from Thompson's yacht, Magnum's black dress shoes become flat rubber bottomed shoes when the duo climb the rocky hills. Later, when he hears the chopper he puts on the dress shoes, then it reverts back to the other shoes again. (00:24:15 - 00:33:35)
