Continuity mistake: When Ricky sings during the rehearsal, there's a pencil tucked behind his ear with its point facing the back of his head, but after Ricky's song is done and he moves the microphone stand, in the next shot when Lucy walks in the pencil point now faces the opposite way, though Ricky hasn't touched the pencil. Continuity mistake: In Lucy's dream, when Carlota Romero comes to their apartment, Little Ricky is sitting in a highchair with a hat on his head. Although later in the scene, you see his hat fall off, the first close-up shot of Little Ricky shows him without the hat. Then immediately, when you see a wide-shot of the scene, his hat is back on his head again.
Lucy Ricardo: How much do you want to bet?
Fred Mertz: Ten dollars.
Ethel Mertz: Well what's the matter with twenty dollars?
Ricky Ricardo: What's the matter with thirty dollars?
Lucy Ricardo: What's the matter with fifty dollars?
Fred Mertz: What was the matter with ten dollars?
Trivia: Lucy, Ricky, Ethel, and Fred all do the impressions of Maurice Chevalier. Thirty-six years later, the same impression is done in the 11th episode of The Simpsons.

Answer: There is no reason. It's a just a silly plot device, typical of the era. Women characters were often portrayed as making uninformed assumptions or decisions.
