Trivia: Cory, Shawn, and Mr. Feeny (voice only) made an appearance in an episode of a short-lived series from 1995 called "Maybe This Time," in which they appeared in an in-universe Boy Meets World episode as part of a waking dream by a character named Gracie. "Maybe This Time" was also produced by Michael Jacobs.
Trivia: On the first episode of the Pod Meets World podcast, Will Friedle revealed he started smoking at around 11 and was a heavy smoker by the time he was 14, and would smoke during filming breaks outside the studio when he was just 16, and none of the grownups would attempt to stop him. He also mentioned William Daniels would walk by him every day and tap the pack of cigarettes tucked into his shirt pocket and say "Right next to your heart."
Trivia: Will Friedle no longer does his famous "Feeny call" for fans of the show, as he feels he passed the torch to Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter in the sequel series Girl Meets World.
Trivia: William Daniels accepted the role of Mr. Feeny on the condition that the character be treated with respect and dignity, as opposed to being a buffoonish foil for the main characters that was more common for teachers in sitcoms around the time.
Trivia: Maitland Ward was cast in the role of Rachel McGuire without even having to audition.
Trivia: Topanga was named when the production staff called the show's creator Michael Jaobs and asked him for her name. He said "Topanga" since he was driving past Topanga Canyon at the time. (From Danielle Fishel's Maxim interview).
Trivia: Five of the nine kids from The Sandlot ended up having guest roles in this show: Chauncey Leopardi, Marty York, Grant Gelt, Brandon Adams, and Patrick Renna.
Trivia: Rider Strong would frequently get recognized in public because of his trademark hairstyle. To help remedy this during summer breaks from filming, he would put his hair in braids, similar to Chris Kirkpatrick from NSYNC.
Trivia: Rider Strong once attended a bachelor party, and someone arranged for him to get a lapdance from a stripper. The stripper told him that she grew up watching Boy Meets World.
Trivia: Will Friedle once had an awkward encounter with a fan of the show at the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. The fan wanted to get a picture with him, and he told them it wasn't an appropriate place to do it.
Trivia: Aside from a handful of episodes from season 1, Rider Strong never watched this show until 2022, largely due to his own insecurities about watching his performances.
Trivia: After landing the role of Eric, Will Friedle and his dad walked around Universal CityWalk Hollywood, where they ran into Jason Marsden, who was also up for the role of Eric. Marsden turned to his two friends and said "This is the prick who stole my job," which Friedle's dad finds to be hilarious.
Trivia: Connecticut native Will Friedle once wore a jersey for the Hartford Whalers - a defunct NHL team - with his name on it at a Disney event. The next day, he found an Anaheim Mighty Ducks jersey in his dressing room, who were owned by Disney at the time, implying that the studio wanted him to start wearing that to events instead.
Trivia: Rider Strong met and dated Rachael Leigh Cook after she attended a taping of the show.
Trivia: In June 2022, Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel and Will Friedle launched a podcast titled Pod Meets World, in which they discuss every episode of this show. In the first episode, they revealed that they asked Ben Savage to participate, but he wasn't interested.
Trivia: The role of Alan Matthews was originally played by Matt McCoy when the pilot was first shot. He was replaced by William Russ in the reshoot.
Answer: Topanga's middle name is never specified. Considering her sister's name is Nebula Stop-the-war Lawrence, Topanga's is probably something equally unusual.
