All Hallows' Eve (2013)

Question: How did Art the Clown, who is after the costume designer, show up on the roadside with the sign "Circus" when he is a mile away from the gas station? Did he run really that fast?

Trainman

Answer: Human beings are known for being able to cover ground. In this case, a mile. With relative ease and in no time at all. Plus, Art wasn't human, so maybe it was some form of demon transport.

Wrong Turn (2003)

Question: When the group finds the abandoned cars, it appears they all have blood either on them or inside them, indicating the occupiers were attacked in or near the cars. Why did they wait so long before attacking the survivors this time when it seems evident they attacked the other people straight away, given all the blood on the cars?

Answer: My understanding is that they would have attacked Jessie the Vampire Slayer and her friends immediately after they'd been ensnared in the barbed wire if it hadn't been for the appearance of Chris the job interviewee. The mutants/hillbillies had not planned on Chris. Just the others. So they had to change their plans accordingly. Once the chick from Cry Wolf and her boyfriend were alone, they attacked.

Halloween (1978)

Question: Does anyone know why John Carpenter had one actor, Nick Castle, play Michael Myers in all the scenes where he's wearing a mask but had a different actor, Tony Moran, play Michael during that one scene at the end where he's briefly unmasked?

Answer: My understanding is that the film was so small-budgeted that Carpenter could only afford to pay Castle so much. And that was already the bare minimum. So, in order to cut costs in any way possible, they had to give this one blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot to a different actor.

Ghost (1990)

Question: Why was Carl pretending to be sick in the elevator? What was the point of this?

Answer: Carl was joking, playing a prank. You can tell this from the extremely brief look Sam gives him before they enter the elevator. As they were all enclosed in such tight quarters, Carl had a warped sense of humour, and before a busy, long workday, a little levity to make the day less stressful.

Cruel Intentions (1999)

Question: Did Ronald really love Cecile, or did he just want to sleep with her? He sent her love letters, but later on, he sleeps with Kathryn. When Kathryn calls him and pretends that Sebastian attacked her, he hurries to go see her, leaving Cecile asleep in bed. So who did he really care about?

Answer: A bit of both. I believe that Ronald did love Cecile. But I also believe that Kathryn manipulated him in such a way and so much that he eventually gave in to his masculine tendencies. He's only human, after all. He wasn't anticipating Kathryn telling anyone, let alone Sebastian finding them in the act.

Cruel Intentions (1999)

Question: If Kathryn is angry because Court wants Cecile, why did she tell Cecile's mother about Ronald? If Cecile is with Ronald, then Court is "dumped."

Answer: I don't disagree with the other comment, but I think Kathryn is jealous and bitter about Court wanting Cecile instead of her. She plans to ruin his idea that Cecile is a wholesome, innocent type by "training" Cecile to be more mischievous and promiscuous. At the same time, she can hurt Cecile by sabotaging the new relationship with Ronald.

Answer: Kathryn just wanted to hurt as many innocent people as possible. Kathryn didn't care for others' feelings. She just wanted herself to be happy and would go to extreme lengths to achieve this. Plus, she was spiteful, vindictive and, forgive the pun, cruel.

Saltburn (2023)

Question: SPOILER: How did Oliver manage to actually end up in Saltburn? The family wouldn't have left it to him, and they did have cousins and other family who wouldn't exactly let Oliver get away with, say, faking the will.

Answer: Elspeth or Elsbeth, the character played by Rosamund Pike, left the house to him. This is the way I've read it. She signed over all of the deeds to Oliver because she was blissfully unaware that Oliver was the reason why she was dying. She had become so infatuated by him that she couldn't see him for who he really was.

Ghost (1990)

Question: During the dream sequence after the angel's wings are broken, what is the meaning behind Sam waking up in bed again, but this time with Molly? When he gets out of bed, does he keep looking back and forth between Molly and the heavenly light?

Answer: The guy has just been brutally murdered. Right in front of his fiancé. He's torn between going to heaven and staying on earth to be with, albeit dead, his beloved woman, or a near-death experience.

Lake Placid (1999)

Question: Bridget Fonda says to Bill Pullman that if he calls her ma'am one more time, she'll sue him and that she can do it. What laws would he have been breaking?

Answer: None. She's just bluffing and being hyperbolic to assert her point.

raywest

Answer: When I saw this, I thought that it was just a subtle Ally McBeal reference. The guy, David E. Kelley, was the one responsible for giving us the aforementioned telly show.

Scream (1996)

Question: When Sidney's mother was murdered, Sidney testified about seeing Cotton leave the house in a bloody coat. Gale believed that someone else wore the coat and put it in Cotton's car, framing him. Billy and Stu were the real killers, so what did Cotton actually do that night? Drive away without noticing a blood-covered coat in the car?

Answer: I've always thought that Billy and/or Stu planted the bloody coat after Cotton had exited his car. So that is why he never noticed his bloody coat before it was found by the police.

ChristmasJonesfan

I agree, except I think the coat never actually belonged to Cotton in the first place. It was Billy's or Stu's. Sidney saw one of them leaving the house in it (mistaking them for Cotton) and they planted it in his car later. When the police found it, he probably couldn't prove that it was not his.

Question: How could Jason figure out where Alice lived? Especially since it's established he's mentally disabled?

Answer: I'm afraid that this is just one more unanswered question in this franchise.

Question: When the terrorists masquerading as Lee's protection detail were being scanned as they came in, how was Kang's face not immediately red flagged? Since he was "one of the most wanted terrorists in the world", wouldn't that facial recognition data go through all FBI, CIA, INTERPOL, and Homeland Security databases?

Answer: It is, of course, possible that the baddies had multiple inside women and men working for them to make this a total non-issue. This entire operation could have cost TRILLIONS just to bring about the end of the presidency. We aren't told the intricacies of the plot.

Question: Was the whole reason for the AC130 strafing the White House rooftop to eliminate all the Secret Service snipers that could potentially stop the attack?

Answer: Yep. And to massacre as many innocent collateral damage/victims as humanly possible. The more carnage, the better.

ChristmasJonesfan

Question: When the ground assault begins, we see Secret Service agents flooding out of the White House to meet the attackers head-on. In reality, what would the protocol be if a ground assault of this nature were actually to occur?

Answer: This is just my opinion. As a non-secret service agent, if there ever were a ground attack of the scale we see in this movie, my thoughts were that the secret service, who I was under the impression were supposed to stay with POTUS, would not do what they did in the event of such an attack.

Hulk (2003)

Question: I'm a bit confused about something. David tried to kill Bruce when he was just a baby out of fear that he would become a monster. After Bruce's first transformation, David is shown as crying about it. Why then, later in the movie, does he now want all of the Hulk's power?

Answer: Perhaps the attempt at murdering the baby drove him insane, and insane people never think rationally. His insatiable lust for power is what drove him to try to gain the Hulk's abilities.

The Patriot (2000)

Question: If Tavington and his men had succeeded in finding Martin's family at the plantation, would they have just killed them or taken them hostage?

Ashley Davis

Answer: A bit of both. Although killing them outright may have given them even more trouble further down the line. As hostages, they could be seen as an extremely powerful bargaining chip.

Question: Why did Jason tell Marie to turn her head away during the car chase in Paris?

Answer: He didn't want to implicate her in his crimes as an accessory. It is unknown at this time if Marie was already known to be involved, either willingly or unwillingly, with Jason. Marie is an innocent bystander whom Jason got involved in his actions. He told her to turn her head away so she was less likely to be identified. IMHO.

Question: What happened to the woman talking about Sam's girlfriend's infection? When Dad arrives, she is not shown or in helicopter scenes.

Answer: The woman was the librarian and library receptionist. She lives to die another day. She gets rescued with the other library survivors. The actress just isn't Jake Gyllenhaal or Dennis Quaid. So the focus in the end is not on her, but rather on the big-name stars.

ChristmasJonesfan

Answer: If you mean Sheila McCarthy, she is on the helicopter. They show her smiling at the man who saved and carried the large Bible.

It (1990)

Question: When Henry, Belch, and Victor go down into the sewers in the first part of the movie, I know they separated, but what happens to Victor? All I saw was a bunch of bright light.

Answer: He was caught and killed by Pennywise, just like Belch is a few minutes later. They just cut away before he dies. But it's easy enough to surmise he's dead given all the context clues the movie gives you.

TedStixon

Answer: The bright light you saw was IT's dead lights. The appearance of these lights is to signify that Victor is no longer on this earth. Just this happens off-screen. To save money. And to add to the mystery/horror. After all, sometimes it's what you DON'T see that is more scary.

Kiss the Girls (1997)

Question: When Cross leaves the station when the Captain is talking to the press, Ruskin's partner drives past and stares at him. Why? It makes Cross lower his glasses and take a moment in thought. There must be a reason for this, but I can't work it out.

Answer: The way I look at it is that 1) it was a classic misdirection and 2) this made Alex realise who the real killer was. Because Alex is incredibly intuitive and has had an extensive career of deduction. It is possible that I may have missed something too.
