Continuity mistake: All of the children, even John and Olivia, seem to have reddish/auburn hair. Their natural hair colors are used in later seasons.

Trivia: When Olivia hears Elizabeth calling out for her, the dialogue comes from "The Sinner" when Elizabeth is scared that the devil is chasing her.

Revealing mistake: When John Boy goes out of the kitchen angrily, the view of the back is different than what it actually is. From the kitchen, there appears to be the mountain and trees, but when John Boy is outside leaving the kitchen, we know the barn is what we should see from the back door/window.

Deliberate mistake: In the opening of seasons 2 onwards, there is a photo of Olivia outside the Church with the family. This is a scene from Season 1 Easter Story. However, it had to be from an outtake because the position of Erin, the absence of Jason, is different than what is shown in the episode. It's just something I noticed when I identified from where the shot was taken.

Factual error: When Olivia gets polio, she is at home. John is allowed to stay with her 24/7. It seems unlikely that the doctor, even if not taken to hospital, would allow John to stay in the room and risk contamination.

Factual error: When John-Boy and Jason walk into the theater, there's a poster for the movie Breakthrough, released in 1950, which is about the Battle of Normandy that didn't even happen until Summer 1942. This episode was set in early 1934. (00:50:55)
