Out of Africa (1985)

Corrected entry: At the New Years Eve party Denys grabs Karen's hand and pulls her to the dance floor. In her other hand is a glass of champagne which spills out of the glass. On the dance floor Karen puts a full champagne glass to her mouth and takes a sip.

Correction: The glass is not full when she takes a sip while they are on the dance floor. There is less than half a glass of champagne, enough to allow for the bit that sloshed out.

Out of Africa (1985)

Corrected entry: In a scene in the house, which appears to be a split level, with steps going both to the right and left to reach the lower level; there is what is unmistakably a round Honeywell thermostat on the wall. Kenya is relatively temperate in climate with highs in the warmest regions in the mid 80's. Climate control would not be a big problem. Clearly, at the turn of the century in Keyna, Honeywell thermostats were, if anything, only a concept in someone's mind.

Correction: First, this story occurs over a 17-year period in Isak Dineson's life - from 1919 through 1936, so not "turn of the century". Secondly, the thermostat shown is indeed an early model and Honeywell thermostats were first used in 1924.

Out of Africa (1985)

Corrected entry: During an early scene Karen is shooting pheasant with a shotgun. There is a shot of her with the shotgun to her shoulder firing a shot which produces no recoil. The shotgun, most probably a 12 gauge has substantial recoil which would be readily noticeable.

Correction: Done properly, handling the recoil from a shotgun is minimized to prevent injury and discomfort. Karen was an accomplished hunter and knew how to handle guns. And she does show a bit of recoil in this scene.
