Daddy Day Care (2003)

Corrected entry: When Eddie Murphy is drawing pictures with his son, Ben, they show each other their pictures. Ben has drawn he and his father standing side by side with the words "Daddy" and "Ben" above them in child's handwriting. If Ben is approx. 3-4 years old, and it was made clear earlier in the movie that none of the kids could read, how was Ben able to write on his picture?

Correction: Many children can spell their own name as well as those of members of their family well before they can actually "read."

What Women Want (2000)

Corrected entry: When Mel Gibson has just been electrocuted by the hairdryer in the bath, he falls flat on the floor. The sound effect heard is just him hitting a wooden floor, yet he should land on all the ball bearings that are all over the bathroom. In the next scene, you can see him lying on top of some bearings, yet the noise doesn't suggest that.

Correction: Those are not ball bearings, they are bath oil beads and are very soft. It would be difficult to hear any noise at all from them.

Corrected entry: Shortly after Kevin Costner arrives at his deserted post and decides he is tired of waiting for the Indians to come to him, he decides to "ride out and meet them". There is a scene where he is dressing in his uniform to prepare for this visit, where at one point he fastens a roughly 6-inch long (presumably) brass "cover" over the buttons on the front of his uniform. He then uses a rag to shine between the buttons for a moment. This "cover" has disappeared in the next shot when we see Costner fully dressed and walking towards his horse.

Correction: I believe this is actually a plate used to protect the uniform as he shines up the buttons, to be slipped off when the buffing is complete. This plate is called a "Button Stick" and is made of brass. Still in use in the British Army.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Ben is hosting a guy's evening, they start out by playing with blue/navy backed cards, which later on change to red backed cards. (01:01:00)

Correction: The guys are playing with two decks. You can see when they start a new game that they pass out the red cards from a new deck, having used the blue ones already. They are all on the table.

The Firm (1993)

Corrected entry: When Tom and his wife enter their new home supplied by the law firm, there is a bucket with champagne and ice which is not in the least melted, even though there was no way for the law firm to know exactly what time Tom and the little missus would arrive.

Correction: I don't think this is an error at all. I think it is an early clue as to just how sneaky "the firm" is. I'm sure they had someone following them from their old apartment, and reported ahead as to when they would arrive.
