Apollo 13 (1995)

Corrected entry: In the shot where Jim is with Marilyn, outside of their house right after the Apollo 11 landing, he blocks out the moon with his thumb. In the final shot, where he puts his finger in front of his face to hide out the moon again, you can see the shadow below his chest. It should be on his eye.

Correction: This is one of the most frequently quoted "non-mistakes" of Apollo 13. It is valid only if the moon was the ONLY light source in the scene, and it is not. There are three or four strong porch light to screen right. Moonlight is pretty feeble and the lights cast the far stronger shadow.

Correction: The only porch lights visible in the scene appear to be behind the actors and were a yellowish color. The light on both characters faces is white and intended to portray the moonlight. Even if the 2nd source of light was shining right on Lovell's face, the white light of the moon would have cast some kind of shadow from his thumb over his eye, particularly at the start of the scene while he was standing up. During that sequence, no shadow of his thumb could be seen anywhere, not even on his chest.

Maverick (1994)

Corrected entry: In the final hand of the final poker game, the crooked dealer deals the Commodore four-of-a-kind, and deals Angel a straight flush. Why would the dealer, who works for the Commodore, deal Angel a better hand than the Commodore? Even though Angel and the Commodore are working together, you would think the Commodore would want to win his own tournament, and therefore have the dealer deal him the better hand. The Commodore even looks surprised when he sees that the dealer has dealt Angel a better hand than him, so it wasn't something that he intended.

Correction: It would look more fixed if the Commodore won his own tournament. Since he is working with Angel then it would make sense to have a skilled "favorite" be the winner since he would get his money either way. And as far as acting surprised - it would look kind of goofy if Angel laid down his hand and the Commodore just sat there like he didn't care that it was better. He is putting on a show.

Correction: Given the looks exchanged, it seems that Angel had gone in with the dealer to switch out the deck and win the final game.

LorgSkyegon

Correction: If there was a fear of it looking fixed if the Commodore won his own tournament, why would he bother even entering it? He could have just had Coop steal the money no matter what happened. Besides, there's no mention of the dealer helping the Commodore, only that Coop was to steal the $ if anyone other than the Commodore won.

He entered the tournament to be a good sport since he was hosting the tournament. Celebrities enter celebrity tournaments all the time with no expectation of actually winning.

Cast Away (2000)

Corrected entry: Chuck's plane was supposed to have gone down in 1995 and he was on the island for just under 4 years, but when he is talking to Kelly in her house about the Tennessee Titans, she says they "were in the Super Bowl last year." Even if the crash happened in December of '95, he'd have been home by the end of '99, a minimum of a few months prior to the Titans Super Bowl appearance (which was actually in January of 2000 - Super Bowl XXIV).

jds122567

Correction: He did in fact crash in December 1995, they were eating a Christmas dinner when he was called away for work. When he writes his farewell note on the rocks, he states he was on the island 1500 days(give or take),which is over 4 years. By the time he is rescued and returns to America, it could easily be spring of 2000. Super Bowl, as stated, would have been in late January. So he just missed it.

In that case wouldn't she say they win the Super Bowl this year??

jds122567

No. Usually once the season has ended, the last superbowl would be referred to as last year's superbowl, as it belongs to the previous year's season.

oldbaldyone

No. Because it was the super bowl of last year's season.
