Question: When Elizabeth and her crew are crawling the ropes back to their ship, why does Norrington care about Bootstrap shouting "Prisoners escaping" and ask him to belay that? I thought the EITC are in control of the Dutchman so even if the rest of Davy Jones' crew are alerted they can't really do much since Norrington is EITC.

Question: Why does Captain Sao Feng keep smelling his cloth at the beginning of At Worlds End? Is it to endure the smell of all those big dirty pirates convened in one spot, or is it drugs to get high, or is it a medical thing, or just a runny nose?

Question: My question is the fact of Davy Jones, and now Will Turner, not being able to step on land except for once every ten years. What exactly is physically stopping them? It is hinted at in Dead Men Tell No Tales, that he would turn to ash, however, my question is, if that were to happen, the Dutchman would have no captain and the Dutchman must always have a captain. That is said repeatedly. So, unless there is some physical boundary, which, to me would make the buckets in the meeting in At World's End, be not possible, why can they not walk on land? Also, this one kinda ties in to the first, the Dutchman must always have a captain, so why did the soldiers' of the East India Trading Company point the cannons at it? There must be a captain. So, that couldn't actually work because then who would be captain? And I understand that it was the Mercer showing his power over Davy Jones, but they both had to know that it does not follow the logic of the Dutchman having to have a captain. Any ideas?
Answer: It's never definitively explained why the Dutchman's captain cannot step on land, but it has to do with the fact that he was supposed to remain in the underworld and ferry lost souls to the 'other side.' The "stepping on land" is a generalized reference that refers to him being allowed to return to the living world once every ten years. Jones abandoned his true purpose by leaving the underworld to stay among the living, thus becoming cursed. He was apparently able to withstand being on solid ground as long as he was not directly in contact with it (hence the bucket). As to Jones' relationship with the East India Company, Lord Becket would only maintain a pact with Jones as long as it was useful and Jones remained loyal. If Jones violated their agreement, Becket would not have hesitated to destroy him, his ship, and the crew.

Question: In the very end of the movie Will Turner's father is on the black Pearl. How did he end up there when just a few minutes before that he was steering the Flying Dutchman for his son?
Answer: Bootstrap Bill Turner was not back on the Black Pearl at the end. He is only on the Flying Dutchman. It appears you're confusing him with another actor in the ending scene who bears a slight resemblance to Stellan Skarsgard, the actor who portrays Bootstrap.

Question: After she finds out that her father's dead, Elizabeth looks absolutely devastated and Will asks Tia Dalma if there is a way. What exactly does Tia say in reply? And why can't she bring back Elizabeth's father from the dead like she brought back Barbossa?
Answer: She says that he is at peace. It's probably possible that she could bring him back, but he doesn't want to go back.
If she would bring him back, he will be very distraught and not be able to live on normally. He'd probably go insane and commit suicide.
Answer: Tia Dalma (Calypso) brought Barbossa back only because she needed him as part of her plan to escape her corporeal form. The Pirate Lords had imprisoned her in a human body, and only they, which included Barbossa and Jack Sparrow, could release her. There was no reason for her to bring Elizabeth's father back from the dead, particularly as he is at peace and will be reunited with his dead wife.

Question: I know Elizabeth can't live on the ship and William can't be on land except every 10 years. Why can't they meet in the ocean whenever they want to? She can swim... she swam to the island when Barbossa stranded Jack and her... and it's not land so William can be there... so why don't they think of that?
Answer: To fulfill his purpose of ferrying souls to the "other side" William must remain in the underworld, allowed to leave it only once every ten years to step on land (in the living world). Davy Jones had abandoned this role and returned to the living world. As a consequence, he and his crew were cursed and began transforming into the hideous monsters.

Question: How did the British manage to populate Port Royal (i.e. What is now Jamaica etc.) by so many ordinary people who were evidently dirt-poor already? Surely they were not all pirates and surely there were no shuttle ships. What was their motivation to move to the Caribbean, compared with the 19th and 20th century immigration waves to the U.S.?
Answer: The British motivation was to colonize areas of the world that could produce the raw resources England needed or could trade (lumber, tobacco sugar, etc.) These were exported back to their own country and traded to other nations for huge profits. Private English citizens could immigrate, obtain land, and sell what they produced to the trading companies that began operating there. The local population provided a cheap labor force to work on the plantations. The Caribbean was also a strategic military location. The Port Royal in the POTC movies is a fictional version of the real Port Royal and therefore, is not an historically accurate depiction.

Question: How does the crew find Jack if he's in Davy Jones' locker?
Answer: Davy Jones controlled the Kraken that pulled Jack and the Black Pearl underwater. The crew knew that the most likely place Jack would end up would be in Davy Jones' Locker. The crew then obtained the map to World's End from Sao Feng. The map led them to the Locker, and once there, they'd search for Jack. Fortunately, Jack found them, though it appears Tia Dalma had a guiding hand in bringing Jack and the ship to them.

Question: Why did Sao Feng keep yelling for more steam in the beginning? Was he trying to smoke out the guys who were underground?
Answer: Sao Feng enjoys his luxury bathhouse and demands that hot steam continually be provided on his command. Barbossa's crew mates, meanwhile, have infiltrated the boiler room directly below and incapacitated the bathhouse workers. When Feng orders more steam, the crew scrambles to figure out how to operate the controls before being detected. Meanwhile, Feng becomes impatient when the steam he wanted has not been provided and angrily yells for more, which the crew is finally able to provide before arousing any suspicion.

Question: I'm curious as to why Will and Elizabeth didn't both stab the heart at the same time. Wouldn't they then be able to captain the Flying Dutchman together and not have to deal with the whole 10 year separation? And if Davy Jones is able to stand ashore in a bucket of seawater for the parley, why couldn't Will Turner do the same once he became captain of The Flying Dutchman?
Chosen answer: A ship has only one captain and only one person can be the captain of the Flying Dutchman. Will became that person. Davy Jones may have been able to stand onshore while in a bucket of seawater, but by having left the netherworld for the living one, he'd abandoned his purpose in ferrying souls lost at sea. From then on, he was corrupted and became a monster. Will could not re-enter the living world during that ten-year period, otherwise, the same fate would have befallen him and the crew.

Question: After Jack's meeting with Beckett on board the Endeavour, they have a deal where Jack has to lead Beckett to the Pirates. Then why does Jack fire a canon on the main mast, making them incapable of pursuit? Later, however, he lets Will escape the brig, gives him the compass and lets him go to Beckett. The two actions seem inconsistent.
Chosen answer: It's a little complicated. Jack would never betray the other pirates. He made the deal with Beckett in order to escape and then shot down the ship's main mast to slow Beckett's pursuit (the mast could be repaired fairly quickly) while putting his plan into action. Jack wanted the pirate lords to fight Beckett, so he let Will escape so that he would lead Beckett's fleet to Shipwreck Cove. (Will's motive was to save his father and Elizabeth.) Jack knew the pirate lords would not fight Beckett and were untouchable once they were ensconced inside their floating fortress. Jack voted for Elizabeth Swan to become pirate king because he knew she would declare war on Beckett, forcing the pirate lords into the battle.

Answer: The "Seven Seas" is an ancient phrase that came to refer to all the world's seas and oceans, although it was more of a figure-of-speech than an actual description. Beginning in the 19th century, the term generally came to mean the seven oceans: the Arctic Ocean, the North Atlantic Ocean, the South Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the North Pacific Ocean, the South Pacific Ocean, and the Southern Ocean. Supposedly, a sailor wore a gold earring after having sailed on all seven oceans (and also for sailing around the Horn), which was a considerable maritime feat in pre-modern times.

Question: How would Jack get his "eternal life" reward if he was able to kill Jones? Is that what will happen, or I misinterpreted things? Was it because he's free from him due to Davey Jones' demise? Why would Jack want Will to kill Jones and have the immortality thingy if his dream was to sail to the sea forever? I thought Will and Jack weren't "friends" at all? Also, Calypso cheated on Davey Jones with whom? If Elizabeth did the same thing with Will after a span of 10 years had passed, would Will have a scary image like Davey Jones' as well? I mean his sort-of-like-an-octopus look? Lastly, if Davey Jones forgave Tia, would the curse be removed from him? Thank you in advance.
Answer: Jack, by killing Jones, would assume his place and become immortal. Jack gave up his bid for immortality to save Will. He cared about Will (and Elizabeth) more than he'd ever admitted to himself, and could not let him die. Calypso didn't cheat on Jones with another man. She simply chose to abandon him because she could not be committed to one person. As she said, it was her nature. Jones' appearance became corrupted because he had abandoned his true purpose of ferrying dead souls to the "other side." This does not happen to Will because he honored the duty that was imposed on him. Also, if Jones forgave Tia Dalma, it would have nothing to do with the curse.

Question: Why is Barbossa reluctant to hand over Elizabeth while making a deal with Sao Feng while Jack is talking with Beckett on his ship? And why is Beckett interested in Elizabeth (asking Jack about her when he fails to mention her)?
Answer: Barbossa does feel some loyalty to Elizabeth and considers her a comrade, and he would not hand her over to an enemy. Beckett would be interested in Elizabeth for a variety of reasons. She would possess valuable information. Having her as a captive would make it easier to ensure Norrington's obedience. She would also make for a good bargaining chip in his dealings with Jack. He may also fancy her.

Question: What made Sao Feng assume that Elizabeth was Calypso? Nobody told him who she was or at least what her human form was/looked like. Did I miss something?
Answer: Sao Feng simply made a mistake. While Barbossa is bargaining with Sao Fen, he tells him that Calypso is bound in human female form and that she is aboard the ship with them. Sao Feng, who appeared to be attracted to Elizabeth's beauty, quickly jumped to a wrong conclusion by assuming that she was the female he was referring to.

Question: When they are all in Davy Jones' Locker, Tia Dalma says to Jack something along the lines of "Don't pretend you didn't enjoy it at the time." What did she mean by this?
Answer: This is never explained, and it can be interpreted any number of ways. It's mostly just meant to be a funny piece of dialogue, as well as hinting that there is a prior sexual relationship between the two that didn't end so well. Although Tia apparently tried to kill Jack, probably in a very unusual way, she still seems attracted to him.

Question: After Jack and Barbossa see the corpse of the Kraken, Sao Feng's ship arrives next to the Pearl and so does Beckett's. During the scenes that follow, everyone double-crosses everyone else. It moves so fast, I just don't understand what exactly happens. Could someone please explain it to me?
Answer: It's very complicated. Will led Jack and the crew to this island because he had a secret deal with Sao Feng (Jack Sparrow for the Black Pearl). However, Feng has betrayed Will by making another deal with Cutler Beckett, who then double-crosses Sao Feng. Feng then makes a deal with Barbossa to attack Beckett, but he wants Elizabeth as part of the deal, mistakenly believing she is the sea goddess, Calypso. Elizabeth goes with Feng to protect the crew, and Will is thrown into the brig. Jack, who wants Davy Jones' heart so he can become immortal, is taken to Beckett's ship, where he negotiates his own deal with Beckett to lead him to Shipwreck Island and the Brethren Court.

Question: At the end of the movie where Jack is looking at the map for the Fountain of Youth, I'm pretty sure I saw in faint red writing "To Jerry." And then there is some other writing. Possibly a signature? Jerry is the producer's first name. Did anyone else see this? It is on the left side of the map.
Answer: I could see it, but it's simply too faint to read what it actually says, although it bears a slight resemblance to those words. It's not inconceivable that it says that, however, as movie makers sometimes include hidden messages and/or graphics into their films, such as George Lucas inserting icons of C3PO and R2D2 into "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark".

Question: How exactly was Will resurrected? Did that take place when the ship was able to rise back to the surface? And was the Flying Dutchman still a cursed ship at the end even though Will was resurrected and Bootstrap was back to normal human form. It seemed like it to me because one second Will is on the beach with Elizabeth and the next the ship is already on the horizon.
Answer: Whoever stabs Davy Jones' heart becomes immortal themselves, but that person's heart has to be removed and placed in the Dead Man's Chest. Will does "die" before his heart is removed and placed in the chest. Sometime between then and when the "Dutchman" resurfaces, he is resurrected. It's not exactly a curse, Calypso assigned Davy Jones the task of ferrying souls to the next world. However, Jones abandoned his duty and that transformed him and his crew into monsters. When Jones dies, the crew's humanity is restored. Will is now the Flying Dutchman's captain, and he must assume this duty. He can spend one day on land before he leaves, and one day every 10 years after that.

Answer: Davy Jones and his crew know that Elizabeth and the others should not be escaping, regardless of what Norrington says. Beckett is running things, and Bootstrap knows Norrington is betraying him. Bootstrap's mind is addled, and his understanding is that no-one leaves the ship.
