Plot hole: The Thorwalds were supposed to be in the apartment for only six months according to the lease, their phone number wouldn't have been published in the phone book for such a short lease.

Suggested correction: They could have had the same phone number at their previous apartment, and it was just transferred to the new place. It's not required to get a new number whenever someone moves. Also, the phone company does not ask customers how long their lease will be.
