Factual error: In the two execution scenes (attempted with D'Artagnan, rendered moot by suicide with Milady de Winter), they are both clear-headed. In actual antiquity, people would be drugged beforehand both as mercy and to keep them from struggling. Captain Kidd was given rum with something else (sources vary) for example.
