Trivia: The film was originally 84 minutes long, but it was decided to cut it 75 minutes to allow more showings: In 1989 the cast were reunited for a special re-release of the film, with the restored footage to total the original 84 minutes, however some of the other scenes were lost because of a processing error, that resulted in eight minutes of lost footage.

Continuity mistake: The man who was electrocuted and killed inside the hull of the spaceship is carried on a board and is laid down on the platform, just after Quatermass says "He's dead" he covers the dead man with a sheet that magically appears from nowhere between shots.

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film when the first skull is found, the black workman is holding a cigarette in his right hand when he tosses the skull to the foreman: The next shot cuts in and the foreman says "It may be worth money" the cigarette is now in the left hand of the black workman.

Character mistake: Colonel Breen theorises to Quatermass that the spaceship is an experimental German V-weapon from the second world war: However according to the story, the underground station (Hobbs End) was dug in 1927: The V-weapons first landed in London in 1944, so how was it possible for a V-weapon to land where it did underground, impacted soild in clay right next to a deep level underground railway station seventeen years later without anyone noticing at the time? Breen should realise that his theory makes no sense.

Trivia: The actor who plays the Abbey Librarian in the film is played by Noel Howlett, however the same actor appeared under the name of Arthur Howlett as the church minister in the original 1957 BBC television version, that was filmed in black and white.

Plot hole: When Quatermass is being admonished by the senior minister for talking to the press, Breen gives his own theory to explain the presence of the spaceship: He says that it was used a propaganda weapon in 1944 and that the figures inside were made up of scraps old skin and bone, why was he unable to explain how the hull of the spaceship was heat resistant up to 3,000 degrees and harder than diamond?

Revealing mistake: Near the end of the film, when the bombs are on board the mini-sub, Bond is spotted by Largo and swims away, but is chased by one of the other divers who has a fight with Bond: Just before they get to grips with one another, you can see that the jacket of Bond's underwater suit is already torn at the right shoulder.

Continuity mistake: When 007 puts Tatiana into the back of the truck with the flowers, he also puts his own attache case and the lector into the back of the truck: But later, when he stops the truck and gets out, he can be seen holding part of the rifle that he will use to shoot down the helicopter, then in the next shot he is carrying the lector from the truck again.

Continuity mistake: Just after Vargas has been harpooned and impaled to the tree, watch the position of Domino's hands as she says to Bond "I'm doing this for my brother for what he did to him" in between shots: When she has her back to the camera you cannot see her hands, but when you see Bond from behind, she has both of her hands on his shoulders.
