A cowboy movie of 4 or 5 street teens who in the event of stealing a horse and wagon discovers there is a baby on board, and they grow up raising her as their sister. One of the brothers was black. I think his name was Adam, and another brother was named Colt.

Answer: I never saw the movie, but based on your description and it's similarity to a series of books I read, I believe this is Rose Hill, and it aired in 1997.

Men in Black 3 (2012)

Question: When J is in the elevator after his time jump and asks the guy with the news paper about the date, you can faintly hear elevator music playing. It sounds extremely similar to the song Back In Time written by Pitbull for this movie, which plays as the credits start. Is it supposed to be like a tribute to this song as an elevator version or something?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: The name of the song is "Love is Strange," recorded by Mickey and Sylvia, and released November 1956. Pitbull sampled it in his song "Back in Time."

I watched this movie a long time ago about these young kids and they all went out on a boat on the lake for this boy's birthday. The boy couldn't swim and got knocked off the boat and he drowned and died. The teens took the body and went to bury it - they all swore they wouldn't tell, but then they got guilty and told the cops.

Answer: I'm pretty sure this movie is Mean Creek.

General questions

Maybe a TV movie from the 70s about 2 cops that walk a beat in a bad neighborhood and try to clean it up. End up getting shot in the back. I think the title is both of their last names?

Answer: It might be the 1975 made-for-TV movie Foster and Laurie.

General questions

I'm looking for the name of a movie that was released in the 70s. A man and his wife are in a car accident and her wicked mother-in-law wants him to believe his wife has died. The mother-in-law has his wife's identity altered with plastic surgery and makes the daughter-in-law believe that her husband died in the accident. The son believes his wife died in the accident, but later sees a finished painting that his wife had not finished prior to the accident. He discovers that his mother had deceived him and his wife. I believe this movie was being played around the same time that Cabaret was released. Thank you.

rubyscuetime

Chosen answer: I can't be absolutely positive, because I didn't see the movie, I only read the book adaptation of the screenplay, but this sounds very much like The Promise, starring Kathleen Quinlan and Stephen Collins, and released in 1979.

General questions

I cannot remember a movie that I watched sometime ago. I think it was about a son looking for his father, or going to meet his father, and he has his mother in the car. She is remembering his life since his contraception, which was in a car, and then later with her in the hospital giving birth to a son instead of a daughter, which she wanted. Her best friend gives birth to a daughter. The mothers are still friends, but the one who is remembering is always frustrated with her son. I cannot remember the title, but I think it has something to do with 'surrounded by boys' or 'living with boys'. Can anyone help?

Answer: I believe the movie you're looking for is "Riding in Cars with Boys," starring Drew Barrymore.

Question: In "Spongebob vs. the Big One", at one point, the Flying Dutchman is in Davey Jones' Locker. While there, an old man comes out (not animated, a real person), he says something to the Flying Dutchman, then "Daydream Believer" by the Monkees starts playing. Is he supposed to be one of the Monkees or something?

Answer: He is indeed--he was lead singer of the Monkees and his name (of course!) is Davy Jones.

Heartbreak Ridge (1986)

Question: Why was the platoon making such a big deal about wearing shirts during their exercises? I would think they would be better off wearing shirts so they would not get a sunburn. So what was the big deal?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: Gunny Highway insisted that they all wear the same shirts as he himself was wearing. If they showed up in a different one, he made them go shirtless. The reasons for this were 1) to break through their rebellious attitudes and teach them to follow his orders, 2) to make them look and feel unified, and 3) to develop resourcefulness and adaptability in them.

To also display esprit de corp to other units gaining them respect from those units as well as command leadership.

Liar Liar (1997)

Question: After Fletcher gets his son to try to unwish the "No lying" wish, he tests to see if it works. He gets slapped in the face. When his son asks "Did it work?", Fletcher says, "Not as well as I had hoped." What did he mean by that?

Answer: As you said, he was testing to see if the wish was broken--by going up to an attractive woman and talking to her. While we don't hear what happens, he apparently said something a little too "forward" to her (probably more forward than he would have done otherwise, hence the "not as well as I had hoped"), and got slapped, so he knew that he was still under the wish's effects.

Chanteuse66

But I want to know what he said to the woman.

It's deliberately made unclear what he specifically said, because him getting slapped in the face is the gag that shows the audience that he's still under the spell. If we heard what he said, then we would know right away the new wish wouldn't have worked. It's ultimately up to the viewer's imagination to decide what he told the woman.

Question: What episode of Jem is this? In it Jerrica who had a secret identity was worried because her boyfriend liked both her and Jem. She got advice from Synergy who told her to become a third identity to test him. She did, and he fell for her too. She was upset until Synergy then said that this actually meant that he really loved her because he must love her soul, because he loved her in any form. I looked up the series on the internet and can't find any episode described this way. Maybe this was a B story of an episode? Could someone tell me what season the episode is in and what the episode is called?

Lori Kaminsky

Chosen answer: This was an episode from Season Three, entitled "Midsummer Night's Madness."

General questions

This was a movie that I saw on TV (not sure if it was made-for-TV) sometime in the mid-'90's to early 2000's. A record label found a woman who had a great voice, but was not attractive, so they made a music video with a younger girl (I think she had dark hair), and put the other woman's voice in the video. I think the other woman was cleaning a house when she suddenly saw the video on TV, with the younger woman singing the song she recorded. Does anyone know the title?

Answer: I believe this is the made-for-TV movie "Out of Sync," starring Gail O'Grady and Kari Wuhrer, and aired in 2000.

General questions

This is a movie I once saw part of. A man who is a writer/author has some kind of female housekeeper or maid, with dark hair and an accent (maybe she was Hispanic, not sure). At one point, she reads the novel/piece of writing he is working on, and I believe she thinks he wrote the romantic scene based on his attraction to her. She approaches him one night and says lines from the scene in his book while kissing him. I remember one thing she said was "Her chest squashed again him" or something. Later on, I think she finds out that he is suspicious of her for some reason, and she is angry when she learns this.

Answer: I think the movie you're looking for is "Her Alibi," starring Tom Selleck and Paulina Porizkova and released in 1989.

General questions

This was a movie from the 1970s: I was only a little kid when I saw it. The only scene I remember is a woman who was going to be sacrificed in some kind of Southwest American Indian ceremony. It was filmed in a desert area with canyons and cliffs, and was set in pre-modern times. There was a part where they covered the face of the victim so that they couldn't see. Ring any bells?

Answer: Not 100% sure, but I think what you're looking for is "Against a Crooked Sky."

General questions

I am trying to find the name of a movie that I saw on TV years ago. Phyllis Diller and Sally Field are in it with a large black woman. It was a comedy involving a church and spying. Sally Field drove a station wagon full of kids and a dog, while Phyllis Diller drove a nice car and broke her nails while chasing the bad guys, the black lady was driving a dump truck. I can't remember the whole movie plot, but it had something to do with the church and the ladies were part of the choir I think.

Answer: I think that the movie you're thinking of is called "The North Avenue Irregulars." However, instead of Phyllis Diller and Sally Field, the movie starred Cloris Leachman (who played the title role in the sitcom "Phyllis") and Karen Valentine (she does bear some resemblance to Sally Field).
