Question: If Claude came to the US from Manchester when he "dropped out", why does he have an American accent?

Chosen answer: Claude did not come from Manchester, England. He is from Oklahoma in the movie although in the original stage musical he is from Flushing, NY.

Fiddler on the Roof (1971)

Trivia: During the three days it took to shoot the "If I were a Rich Man" scene, Topol had a bad abscess in a tooth and was in dire pain. The pain in his face, which helped win him an Oscar for the role, was generated by the pain in his tooth. No acting was required.

Trivia: Dialogue for the film was not scripted. Each scene was written as a synopsis, and the actors improvised their own dialogue on set and even as the camera rolled.
