subdiaconus

Stigmata (1999)

Corrected entry: In the scene where the priest is offering the mass, he's freestanding, and says the words "This is my body" while holding the bread, then gives it to the people. Then he holds the chalice and says "This is my blood", and gives it to the people. This would never happen at a mass. He would be standing at an altar, and the bread and wine would be on it, and the people would get them both together, way after the prayer with those words in it.

subdiaconus

Correction: Indeed, the way it was done is what happens at most Protestant services I have attended. However, some Catholic masses I have attended do it the way depicted in the film. They were in mostly smaller congregations.
