Continuity mistake: At the end of the film when Harry gets on the Firebolt, everyone is running outside, and there is no crowd properly formed beside the water fountain, yet when Harry takes off there is a very large crowd watching him all of a sudden. (02:04:05)

Continuity mistake: When Harry and Hermione are back in time, Dumbledore, Fudge, the Executioner and Hagrid come out of Hagrids hut to execute Buckbeak and they find Buckbeak has gone. Then Dumbledore says "I don't think the minister's suggesting you had anything to do with this" and in the wideshot Dumbledore steps up onto the bottom step of the stairs leading to the hut, and stands right by Hagrid. Yet in the following closeup as Dumbledore says "How could you..." Dumbledore is now not on the bottom step, but standing on the path much further away from Hagrid. (01:50:10)

Continuity mistake: When Harry storms into the pub in Hogsmeade, the camera follows his footprints to the door, and at the door is a large clearing where there is no snow, because the ground is sheltered by the door's porch. Yet in the following shot the clearing has decreased greatly. (01:01:35)

Continuity mistake: In Hagrid's hut, Hagrid gets something from a cage, and then he tosses it for his creature to eat. If you look closely, you'll see Hagrid *accidently* throws the item over the creature, nowhere near its mouth, yet in the following closeup the item is still flying towards the creature's mouth, and the creature gobbles it up contently! Continuity mistake: When Malfoy and his friends run away after the invisible Harry beats them up, in a wideshot Hermione and Ron stand quite far apart yet in the following closeup they are standing side by side. (01:00:30)

Continuity mistake: When Harry goes to unchain Buckbeak, in the closeup he is holding the metal ring with his left hand after getting nipped by the crow, yet in the following wideshot his hand is below the ring, and he is now holding the metal chain. (01:48:40)

Continuity mistake: When Dumbledore first introduces Lupin as the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, the camera pans to the Gryffindor table. You can see that Ron and Hermione are sitting opposite each other with their dinner sets in front of them. Then Malfoy insults Harry, then when it cuts to Ron saying "Shove off Malfoy" Ron is now sitting opposite the girl who was beside Hermione and not Hermione herself, and the girl couldn't have just moved across because all of her dinner set is in front of her too, perfectly set out. Continuity mistake: When Sirius flies off on Buckbeak, the ground on which he takes off from is a perfectly clean stone ground with nothing on it. Yet after Sirius has flown off, Harry and Hermione run across the same ground, only now it is covered in dead leaves, grass and mud, etc. (01:59:40)

Continuity mistake: When Harry and Hermione travel back in time, Harry walks towards Buckbeak, planning to save him. There are pumpkins around Buckbeak and there is also a black cauldron near him too. The pumpkins and the cauldron move between shots during the scene as do other items in the background, and nobody touches them. (01:48:25 - 01:49:25)

Continuity mistake: When Sirius, Lupin, Snape and the rest are gathered together in the Shrieking Shack, in some of the shots we see the main double doors swing back and forth, due to light gusts of wind. However, the doors' positions instantly change in some consecutive shots, even though there is no wind between the two shots. (01:27:35 - 01:30:45)

Continuity mistake: In the Shrieking Shack, Snape enters the room brandishing his wand at Lupin and Black, and both Lupin and Black back away from Snape. Lupin and Black both lean back on the big piano that's in the room. Yet when the shot changes Lupin is still backing away from Snape, and neither Black or Lupin are in front of the piano, let alone leaning back on it. (01:29:20)

Continuity mistake: In the Shrieking Shack, Harry grabs Sirius Black and throws him to the floor. There are many black marks on the floorboards, like paw prints etc. Although Sirius doesn't move when Harry first throws him on the floor, the black marks on the floorboard near Black's head change between the first wideshot of him on the floor and the following closeup and in subsequent shots as well. Continuity mistake: When the jar is smashed in Hagrid's hut, the lid stays on the smashed jar, yet when Hermione picks up the stone which smashed the jar, there is a closeup of her hand holding the stone and you can see the lid of the jar on the table. (01:21:30)

Continuity mistake: When the Weasleys give Harry the Marauders Map, Harry takes it from George with his left hand, yet in the next shot the map is in his right hand. (00:57:10)

Continuity mistake: When Neville magically makes the Snape Boggart wear his grandmothers clothes, in one shot the Snape Boggart clutches his red handbag with both hands by his chest, yet in the next shot he is holding the handbag down by his right side. (00:40:55)

Continuity mistake: When the train suddenly stops, Harry gets up and slides the door open. He pulls the door with a tight grip on the doorhandle, then he releases his grip from the handle and rests his palm on the doorhandle. But in the next shot he is gripping the doorhandle again. (00:19:25)

Continuity mistake: When in the Leaky Cauldron, there is a man offering Harry food. He holds a bowl of nuts towards Harry, and in one shot he holds the bowl with two hands, yet in the following shot he is holding it with one hand. (00:12:50)

Continuity mistake: When Marge floats off, Vernon is holding onto her, and Marge's dog is biting Vernon's trouser leg. In a closeup the dog is pulled well onto the Dursely's back lawn, as he bites Vernon's trouser leg, yet in a following wideshot the dog is dragged from the patio and onto the lawn once again, whilst biting the trouser leg.
