Question: When Anck-Su-Namun killed Evelyn, why was Jonathan spared instead of being killed by Imhotep?

Chosen answer: Imhotep had no weapon and there was no point, with his goal close at hand.

And yet he tried suffocating Rick in the original movie.

Probably because he hated him and they were fighting, or maybe he wanted Jonathan to suffer after Evie was killed.
