A Passage To India (1984)

Trivia: During filming, the relationship between Alec Guinness and David Lean deteriorated. The final straw came for Guinness when he realised that a large chunk of his scenes had been left on the cutting floor by Lean. After filming was complete, the two never met or spoke to each other again.

Trivia: Peggy Ashcroft won the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role as Mrs. Moore. At the age of 77, Ashcroft became the oldest winner in the Best Supporting Actress category in Academy history.

Mrs. Moore: My dear, life rarely gives us what we want at the moment we consider appropriate. Adventures do occur, but not punctually.

Richard Fielding: We English do.
Mrs. Moore: I rather like mysteries - but I rather dislike muddles.
Richard Fielding: A mystery is only a high-sounding term for a muddle. Me and the Professor know that India is a muddle.
