Continuity mistake: When she is in the boat she takes off her blindfold entirely, but after some talking the blindfold is around her neck all of a sudden.
Bird Box (2018)
Directed by: Susanne Bier
Starring: Sandra Bullock, John Malkovich, Sarah Paulson, Trevante Rhodes
Audio problem: Malory ejects all of the shells in the shotgun to show she knows how to operate it, but the audio clip is of empty shotgun shells hitting the floor.
Other mistake: For the most part we see Malorie floating in the boat going with the river. However, numerous times we see her rowing against the tide. Even blindfolded you would be able to tell you are rowing against the flow by the resistance on the paddles.
Trivia: Following the success of this film, Netflix had to release a statement begging views to not try the "Bird Box Challenge" that was sweeping social media and putting many people in hospital. A news article on the incident can be viewed here https://www.theguardian.com/film/2019/jan/03/netflix-bird-box-challenge-meme-sandra-bullock-blindfold.
Malorie: Please don't take my children!
Douglas: Every contact we've had with the outside has brought us death!
Malorie: Listen to me, we're going on a trip now, it's going to be rough. If you hear something in the woods, you tell me. If you hear something in the water, you tell me. But under no circumstances are you allowed to take off your blindfold.
Question: Why didn't they stay in the store with all the food? The one guy suggests it and they bring up the fact that some others are still at the house and will starve... But couldn't they have just used the car to go back and collect them and bring them to the store? Alternatively, why didn't they make multiple trips to the store to bring back as much food as they could? They could have come back, unloaded and then gone straight back out again (meaning the car couldn't have been stolen). By this point they knew it was safe, they could have even have just sent 2 people giving them more space in the car to load it with supplies.
Question: In the market, Tom gives a pack of diapers to Malorie for her baby shower. He says, "My sister is expecting her fourth, so..." "Oh, my God. She's a saint," she answered. What does she mean, "She's a saint"?
Chosen answer: Well, with Malorie being quite pregnant at the moment, and her fear of giving birth, Malorie is using the word "saint" unconventionally, and it's a compliment for Tom's sister. For the woman to have gone through the many long months of pregnancy and already given birth three times, and is now pregnant a fourth time, Malorie considers the woman to be *saint-like*, meaning unselfish, good-hearted, kind, etc.
