Continuity mistake: When Calvin Q. Calculus has invented the portable hole, he says "Eureka!" and you can that there is a beaker on the desk, but in the next shot the beaker has disappeared.

Continuity mistake: When Calvin Q. Calculus leaves his house when his wife says "You are going to regret it", the colour of the front door changes from dark brown to light brown between shots.

Continuity mistake: When we see the paper boy holding the newspaper, you can see that the paper is entitled "Extra", but when we see a close-up of the paper in the next shot, the title is now "Times Dispatch."

Trivia: When we see the start of the newsflash at the theatre, the opening title has "Selzer" as the cameraman and the narrator is "Moray." "Selzer" is a reference to the Warner Brothers producer Eddie Selzer, whereas "Moray" is a reference to Norman Moray, the key executive with the Vitaphone Corporation, Warner Brothers' short subject division.

Trivia: In the opening credits, you will see that Robert McKimson is the animator for the cartoon. McKimson did the animation himself because he was re-assembling his unit after the brief 1953 shutdown of Warner Brothers Animation.

Calvin Q. Calculus: I invented the portable hole for the good of humanity. But let us all hope it will never be used for evil purposes.
