Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Corrected entry: When the helicopter crashes and Sean gets his phone out of a plastic bag it is an iPhone. Later when Henry asks Sean for his phone to take a picture of the island map it is a Blackberry. Then later when Sean takes his phone out it is an iPhone once again.

Correction: When Hank asks for the phone to take a picture of the map it is still an iPhone.

Corrected entry: In the scene when Hank is pointing out where the decoded geographical location of Mystery Island is on the globe, he is pointing to the wrong coordinates. Hank is pointing at a place around the Caribbean Sea and the mysterious island is actually located in the South Pacific Ocean, which Sean says in the same scene.

Correction: He is pointing in Asia, so he is actually right. You can see Malaysia, China, Thailand etc which is not the Caribbean at all.

Plot hole: As the island is sinking you can see parts break off, like the island is falling apart, but if it does this every 70 years then there wouldn't be an island. It should have completely fallen apart hundreds of years ago.

Sean: Told you it'd work.

Question: If the island sinks underwater at regular intervals, then what happens to the tiny elephants, giant bees, etc (and the whole ecosystem) while the island is underwater?

Answer: There is a deleted scene on the DVD/Bluray where they attempt to give an explanation. Kailani asks "What happens to the animals when the island sinks? They can't all die!". Alexander replies "Even the mammals develop quasi-amphibian characteristics. They just burrow below the ground's surface and absorb the oxygen through their skin."
