The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1

Question: If imprinting is possible for werewolves then why didn't Jacob do it to Bella? Mad Magazine pointed this out as he does this to her daughter, kind of creepy it was.

Rob245

Answer: Imprinting is an involuntary mechanism. The shape-shifter can't voluntarily imprint on anybody. Jacob tried to imprint on Bella but was unable to do so and began going around looking for other girls to imprint on but, is unable to do it of his own free will.

On the flip side, Sam Ulee was in love with Leah Clearwater, but then he involuntarily imprinted on Emily, dumping Leah and breaking her heart.

Answer: In addition to the other answer, imprinting is not only a sexual thing. As Jacob explains it, it is about being whatever the person who is imprinted on wants or needs, whether it is as a lover, a protector, a life-long friend, etc.

Question: In the credits at the end, there is a Volturi scene where Aro reads a message written by his receptionist "Swwwweet Bianca." He points out that she spelt Carlisle's name incorrectly, then he gestures to the guards, to take her away and kill her. Of the note, he says, "First, it's the spelling, then the grammar." What does this mean? (What does he mean by "then the grammar"?).

Answer: He's merely justifying why Bianca should be killed. While reading the note, he notes that she misspelled "Carlisle", then surmises she'll also make grammar errors. Aro does not tolerate imperfections, has little regard for human life, and most likely intended to dispose of her.

Question: In the end credits scene, what is it that the Volturi wanted? If it was Renesmee, is that a mistake, since they were informed about it in part 2?

MikeH

Answer: They want Alice because she can see into the future, which would be a significant advantage to the Volturi. Aro destroys other covens, sparing the one member who has some special ability.

Question: If Edward's bite has venom in it, why didn't Bella start changing immediately after being bitten on her stomach repeatedly to get the baby out?

sunfox35

Chosen answer: Vampires may have the ability to control when they inject their venom.

Question: In a deleted/extended scene Edward attacks Jacob when Jacob reveals through his thoughts that he imprinted on Renesmee. Minutes later when Jacob stops Sam and the wolf pack from killing her by showing them that he imprinted, Edward reveals this to the rest of his family but the way he says it makes it sound like he didn't already know. Is this a mistake since the previous scene was cut from the final version of the film?

Answer: I've seen both versions (the theatrical and the extended scene), and I think it is a matter of the viewer's interpretation. When Edward is translating to the others that Jacob has imprinted on Renesmee, it sounds relatively neutral, meaning it could be surmised that yes, Edward already knew about Jacob having imprinted, or else, he is explaining it as he reads Jacob's thoughts. Edward, technically, would learn this knowledge before he spoke to the others, even if it was just a few seconds beforehand. He would hear Jacob's thoughts, internalize it, then relay what he knew.

raywest

Chosen answer: From above the break, she can still feel everything.

Phixius

Question: If Edward can read minds why he didn't tell Bella that Rosalie only cares about getting the baby for herself and is not really helping Bella live through the pregnancy?

sunfox35

Chosen answer: Because that would not be at all true. Rosalie never wanted Bella's baby for herself. Her biggest regret is not being able to have had a child, and she loves Edward and Bella's child, but never would have done anything to try and take the baby from them.

Question: Why did it take Bella almost dying for a house full of thirsty vampires to realize that the vampire fetus would want to drink blood?

sunfox35

Chosen answer: It was the first time that a vampire ever got a human pregnant, and they didn't know what will happen.

Anastasios Anastasatos

It wasn't the first time a vampire impregnated a human, as shown by the half-human/half-vampire South American native that appears at the end. However, the Cullens knew nothing about his existence until that time, nor could they assume the fetus was fully vampire. They therefore had no idea how to treat Bella's pregnancy.

raywest

Question: Jacob almost murdered a baby. He only decided against it when he involuntarily imprinted. Why would the Cullens still welcome him in their house after that?

MikeH

Answer: It was never shown that the Cullens knew Jacob intended to kill Renesmee, only that he imprinted on her. Edward may have read his thoughts later, but kept this to himself after realizing Jacob would be forever bound to Renesmee as her protector.

Continuity mistake: When Edward and Bella are in the taxi in Brazil, he has his wedding ring on. In the shot when he kisses Bella in the street, the ring is suddenly gone.
