Factual error: Early on in the film, Kane takes refuge in a monastery. But the movie takes place in 1600, and by this time all the monasteries in England had been taken over and dissolved by the Crown (Henry VIII).

Factual error: In the scene where Kane has to shoot his father, a flint lock pistol is used. The film is described as the sixteenth century, but flint locks arrived in the seventeenth century (1630 to be precise).
