The Matrix

Other mistake: When Neo is running along while shooting, it switches to a shot of a soldier firing a shotgun. Just before Trinity kicks it out of his hands, he's firing at the same spot over and over. Trinity is behind him, and Neo is moving, so what is he shooting at? (01:38:45)

Other mistake: When Morpheus and his crew rescued Neo from the Matrix, how was it possible that Neo's real self had his ear pierced? (00:35:55)

Other mistake: When Neo is being chased by the three agents through the outdoor marketplace, pay attention to the shot of the guy being picked up by an agent and flung through the air. There is a woman wearing a red sweater to to the slight left of the agent. She does not flinch, even though the guy in front of her has just been thrown 15 feet into the air and into a produce stand. She just stops for a second to let the guy fly past her, and she then simply resumes her walk. Other people around her react... (01:54:40)

Other mistake: When Morpheus makes his escape, Agent Smith shoots through the walls with a noticeable time between shots. However when you see the bullets in motion (the 'bullet time' sequence), they're so close together in time that Morpheus doesn't appear to move in the interval between shots. Even if these are supposed to be later shots they could not be fired so close together either by the agents or by the guns used. The first two bullets are some distance behind Morpheus, corresponding to the change of direction of the shots fired by agent Smith to track Morpheus' movement - this also doesn't fit with the shots seen in the 'bullet time' sequence.

Other mistake: When Neo shoots with the chopper's machine gun the window smashes from a single point in the middle, shattering two panes. Water then starts splashing up from bullet impacts right at the base of the window, but the glass doesn't smash anywhere around there - it could only work like that if Neo was shooting down at an incredibly sharp angle, which he obviously isn't. (01:43:20)

Other mistake: In the bullet-time sequence in the subway station the lighting on Neo and Agent Smith doesn't change even as they spin round each other, principally because they were in a green screen chamber with even lighting to shoot the movie. It sticks out because the lighting on the CGI set (for the bullet-time shot) is pretty dim with light in specific areas. (01:50:10)

Other mistake: Neo's phone from Morpheus is delivered by FedEx. But the delivery guy is listed in the credits as the "UPS Man".

Other mistake: In the shot where Neo and agent Smith are hanging in the air shooting at each other, there are no shells coming out of their guns. (01:50:00)

Other mistake: They are presumably in the US - trying to make it look that way, anyway. Cars driving on the right, speaking English etc. However the filming location was overseas, revealed by the elevator in the lobby scene. When they hit the button, the plate refers to the elevator as a lift.

Suggested correction: As pointed out in several other mistakes, The Matrix is a computer simulation and is not meant to be a perfect model of the world. Small things like this are possible.

Other mistake: The date of birth shown in Neo's passport is 13th September 1971. The date of birth shown in his security file is 11th March 1962.

Other mistake: In the scene where Cypher is sitting on Morpheus right after betraying him, Morpheus is still plugged into the Matrix. Yet he can be seen blinking just before the scene cuts away. It can be seen when the camera cuts to behind his head.

Continuity mistake: When Agent Smith is interrogating Neo, after Smith has sealed Neo's mouth shut and he is backed into the corner, when the camera cuts back to Smith you can clearly see a reflection in his glasses of Neo still sitting down in the chair. (00:19:50)

Agent Smith: I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species, and I realised that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment; but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer on this planet, you are a plague, and we...are the cure. Trivia: It's been said that Neo is an anagram for "one". I think it's more important to realise that Neo means "new". His real name is Thomas Anderson. He is called Thomas at the beginning of the movie, when he doubts the truth -- that the world as he knows it is not real. Thomas is the "doubting" disciple in the Bible. Moreover, Anderson means "son of man". Hence, Neo Anderson is the New Son of Man. The biblical references go on and on... Trinity, Nebucadnezzar (the name of the ship -- in fact, the name plate on the ship makes reference to a verse in Mark chapter 3), Zion... So not only is Neo "the One", he has gone from being the doubter to the new son of man.

Chosen answer: The pills are the Matrix representations of computer programs. The red pill contains code designed to disrupt Neo's input/output signals, so that Morpheus' team can pinpoint his physical location in the real world. Once located, a signal of unspecified type is sent from their ship, which presumably serves to wake Neo up.
