Alicia (Natalie Portman) hooks up with a British soldier after she and the other women to be deported are picked up by the troops. Father Gregorio is released from prison and he sentences Lorenzo (Javier Bardem) to be executed. The priests at the execution tell Lorenzo that if he repents for his deeds he won't be executed. Ines (Natalie Portman), at the execution, calls out to Lorenzo and holds up the baby she found at the tavern, thinking that she's showing her daughter to her father. She found the baby after Alicia and some other women were arrested at the tavern; the baby belongs to one of the women who was going to be deported. Francisco Goya (Stellan Skarsgard) is also at the execution and draws Lorenzo in his final moments. Lorenzo says nothing in his defense and is executed. Alicia is not reunited with her mother (Ines) and Lorenzo doesn't tell her that he's her father. The last scene is Lorenzo being carried in a cart with Ines (and the baby) accompanying him and Goya walking behind and calling out to her...
