Other mistake: When Meg Ryan is getting out of her black Lexus in front of her house (about 8 minutes into the movie), you can see that it is late in the afternoon by the shadows of the bushes and the trees being cast on the ground. However, she's rushing into the house to throw a 12:30 luncheon. If it were actually 12:30, the sun would be high in the sky and there would be very little shadows cast on the ground. (00:08:20)
Continuity mistake: Sylvie just managed to dodge Mary's questions about the fact that she's obviously hiding something. The convo shifts on the topic of Meg's father and the possible passing of the torch; Annette Bening's right hand constantly moves between holding one arm of the shades or the glass in the reverse shots. Continuity mistake: When Sylvia goes to Eddie's apartment to take her to Mary's lunch and she knocks the number on the door is 10C, inside the apartment it changes to 1. (00:06:40)
Continuity mistake: Edie says hi to Natasha; during the scene, in some takes there are locks of hair trapped under the straps of her bag, in others there are none. (00:12:20)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, Annette Bening does a Robocop-like scan of the store. She then pulls up her sunglasses. Just before the cut, she pulls her hand back, but in the next shot the glasses are further back in her hair. From there she walks in and a clerk offers her a "facelift in a jar." Watch on the left part of the lane, two women (black short hair, mid-length grey hair) walk in the opposite direction and are already past the clerk. In the next shot, they walk again past the clerk only after a couple seconds and in a different pattern. (00:03:20)
Continuity mistake: When the doctor passes Eadie her new-born son, the baby has his arm outside the blue blanket, but moving on and the arm is now inside the blanket.
Continuity mistake: When Mary is putting her foot covers on so she can go and see Eadie who is having a baby, she puts them on three times.
Continuity mistake: When Sylvie talks to Molly on a bench in a park, Sylvie's hair keeps changing - behind her ear, in front of her ear, etc.
Continuity mistake: Mary Haines is putting on hospital scrubs and removing her jewelry. While she's removing her earrings, she still has a gold bracelet on her right wrist when she puts them in her purse. She never takes off the bracelet; however, when her wrist is shown again, the bracelet isn't on her wrist. (01:44:02)
Continuity mistake: When Meg is eating sugar, chocolate and butter, between shots the sugar jar's cover is on and then off, and another container vanishes.
