Audio problem: When the burning USS Haynes is about to ram the disabled submarine, two Germans open fire on the destroyer with a deck-mounted Oerlikon autocannon. However, the sound of the cannon firing heard in the movie is far too slow to match the real thing, and in a segment where the cannon's muzzle flash is seen, it flickers far too quickly to accommodate the slower reports. Captain Murrell: I have no idea what he is, what he thinks. I don't want to know the man I'm... trying to destroy.

Trivia: The number of the (fictional) USS Haynes is DE-181. This number was actually used for the USS Straub - an actual Cannon Class escort destroyer.
