Character mistake: When Ms. Gruwell tells Gloria to read the first sentence on the board Gloria reads "Odysseus had no sense of direction." but on the board something different was written.
Suggested correction: The chalkboard had 5 sentences that were purposely written with wrong spelling and tenses. Gloria read the first sentence correctly as it appeared on the board "Odysseus had no "since" of direction."
Continuity mistake: In the scene where they are discussing 'The Diary of Anne Frank', the writing on the chalk board changes from simply "Anne Frank" to a large amount of writing quite a few times.
Eva: So when's Anne Frank gonna smoke Hitler?
Question: Did Erin Gruwell really have her students write diaries as shown in the movie?
Answer: It is my understanding that she "encouraged" her students to keep diaries. Some students did and some of the diary entries were later included in a controversial book (which some people found offensive because of the language used).
