Fever Pitch
Fever Pitch mistake picture

Other mistake: Near the end when Lindsey goes to Fenway to stop Ben from selling his tickets, she borrows binoculars from someone to find him across the field. She's looking through the wrong end. The way she's holding them, everything would look tiny, and yet she still sees him.

Other mistake: When Ben gets home from the costume birthday party and laying in bed he puts the TV on when he finds out the Sox won the game. The alarm clock on the nightstand reads 10:38 when he first puts the TV on - then a couple of TV clips later it is 11:27.

Factual error: In the scene in the park where Ben does his fake proposal bit and asks Lindsey if she'll go to opening day with him, the ticket is for Tuesday April 11th. It's obviously fake for two reasons. First, the Red Sox opening day in 2004 was April 9th, not the 11th. Second, April 11th, 2004, was a Sunday, not a Tuesday.

Troy: Why do we inflict this on ourselves?
Ben: Why? I'll tell you why, 'cause the Red Sox never let you down.
Troy: Huh?
Ben: That's right. I mean - why? Because they haven't won a World Series in a century or so? So what? They're here. Every April, they're here. At 1:05 or at 7:05, there is a game. And if it gets rained out, guess what? They make it up to you. Does anyone else in your life do that? The Red Sox don't get divorced. This is a real family. This is the family that's here for you.

Trivia: In the scene where Lindsey accepts the promotion, there is a group of people from the office. The guy in the front of the group with the goofy smile is Dr. Charles Steinburg, a member of the Red Sox front office.

Question: Why is the right field foul pole named after Johnny Pesky?

Answer: Popular Boston Red Sox lore credits the nickname to pitcher Mel Parnell who later became a sportscaster. Pesky had only 6 homers in Fenway Park and all were hit near the right field foul line pole, but never off the pole. The pole is only 302 feet from home plate. The left field foul line pole is named after player Carlton Fisk.
