A boy robot named Rodney is created. When he grows up, he wants to be someone great. He leaves his parents goodbye and goes to the robot city. There are bad guys there who do not care about justice. A lot of robots in the city are no good. Those robots are usually scrapped. Rodney teams up with some friends to fix the robots up and defeat the bad robots!
Continuity mistake: When Rodney is first magnetised, all kinds of metal are sticking to him so much so that he can hardly walk; Yet when all the Rusties are magnetised near the end in the chop shop, none of them are attracting metal.
Trivia: A little nod to another Blue Sky Studios Production, "Ice Age". When Rodney is looking around Robot city, he comes across a red robot that plays hip-hop. As Rodney walks away nervously ("Uh, n-n-never mind"), pause the frame just before the shot changes and you'll see (on the left) a yellow, mechanical Sid. Sid is the sloth (and the main character) from "Ice Age".(00:15:25)
