Frank LaCrosse is a fed who's gone renegade due to his fellow agents taking him off the case of an egmatic thrill kill serial slayer in the light of the suspect kiddnapping Frank's son, Andy. He arrives in a small mountain town where the local Sheriff Buck Olmstead is investigating a spate of local homicides with his Deputy Nate Booker inbetween fending off his position from local rival Chief Jack McGinnis. At the same time a disgraced med student, Lane Dixon is slowly making his way through the state only to picked up and be befriended by ex-railway worker Bob Goodall who figures they should carry out their journeys...together. But whereever they go...a trail of bodies are left in their wake...could one of them be the perpetrator to the killings and if so...who?
