Continuity mistake: When Luke uses the Force to lift a rock, the rock is much higher above the ground in the close-up than in the wide-shot. (01:05:45)

Continuity mistake: When Luke is standing on his hands while using the Force to lift a rock, he is distracted. As he collapses, the rocks on the ground are different and in a different position from the rocks seen in the shot before Yoda says, "concentrate." (01:06:00)

Continuity mistake: When Luke drops down in pain after his hand is cut off, he is not holding onto the pole with his other hand (watch closely), but in the next shot, his hand is now clutching the pole. (01:46:00)

Continuity mistake: At the rebel base on Hoth, the Falcon is being repaired in a hollowed-out snow cave. When Han blasts off out of the cave, none of the debris on the floor or in the cave moves at all, nor is there any effect from the Falcon's exhaust.

Nicki

Continuity mistake: When the Millennium Falcon is pursued by the Star Destroyers after escaping the space slug and, Han pulls the lever for the hyperdrive. In the next shot from behind, the lever has not been pulled.

Continuity mistake: After the Millennium Falcon has left Hoth and Han is trying to repair the hyperdrive, in the shot after he asks for alluvial dampers, the tool box Chewbacca gives him can be seen in the lower left hand corner. When Chewie takes the box, it is lying in a different position than in the previous shot. As Chewie walks over to Han, he is holding the right side of the box with his right hand, but as he puts it down, he is holding the left side of the box with his left hand. There are also more tools in the box than in the previous shot.

Continuity mistake: When Leia briefs a group of Rebel pilots in the hangar on Hoth, the position of her head changes completely between the first and the second shot. As the second shot ends, she begins to turn around, but in the next shot, she has already turned around. Also, Major Derlin's (the man dressed in grey) head has changed position. (00:23:05)

Continuity mistake: On Hoth, when the rebel troops starts to see the At-ST, there is a shot where rebels take place for the battle and there is destroyed equipment and black smoke in the air, even though the battle has not started.

Dr Wilson

Continuity mistake: In the last part of the lightsaber duel, and in the following scenes, the wounds on Luke's face keep changing between shots.

Continuity mistake: As already noted in another mistake, when Han is about to be frozen in carbonite, his jacket appears and disappears between shots. This jacket can also be seen when Lando says, "You're being put into carbon freeze." This shot was not fixed in the DVD.

Continuity mistake: In an exterior shot in Cloud City, Leia can be seen through the window of a building, with one hand on her hip and the other arm at her side. In the following interior shot, her hands are clasped together.

Continuity mistake: When Luke leaves Dagobah, he uses a ladder to climb into his cockpit, but when he sits in, it has disappeared.

Continuity mistake: Special Edition: Luke cuts off the Wampa's arm at the shoulder, but the limb seen hitting the cavern floor is way too short to be the entire arm. (00:09:30)

Kylantha

Continuity mistake: When Boba Fett shoots at Luke, he fires his blaster four times. The second shot hits the corner Luke is standing by, but in the next shot of Luke, there is no burn mark there. The only burn mark seen is the one from the third shot. (01:35:05)

Continuity mistake: Just before Leia gives the order to evacuate and leaves the control room on Hoth, C3PO can be seen in the background with his hands over his head. The shot changes to a closeup of him, and his hands are now down at his waist.

Continuity mistake: When Yoda and R2-D2 are engaged in a tug-of-war over the little flashlight, Yoda hits him several times with his walking stick. When Artoo lets go, the stick is pointing upwards as Yoda hits him one last time, but in the next shot, Yoda is using it as a walking stick again and it is pointing downwards.

Continuity mistake: When the Millenium Falcon escapes from the giant space worm, it comes from the center of the mouth, but viewed from outside, it comes from the side.

Dr Wilson

Continuity mistake: When Luke is hiding behind a corner in Cloud City right before he signals to R2-D2 to keep silent, his blaster is held in different angles between the shot from the back and the shots facing him. (01:35:00)

Continuity mistake: Widescreen version: After Vader chokes Captain Needa, he talks to Admiral Piett. The distance between Piett and the officer next to him differs between shots, depending on the camera angle. (01:10:55)

Continuity mistake: After R2-D2 opens the door to the landing platform during the escape from Cloud City, the droid exits through the door. Some shots later, he is back inside. (01:43:55)

Other mistake: When the Falcon gets hit by an asteroid, Leia falls and is caught by Han. She tells him that "being held by you isn't quite enough to get me excited". As she is saying this you can clearly see Harrison Ford mouthing her exact words. (00:44:05)

Well I for one didn't know about it, so it's interesting to know it happened. Behind the scenes stuff is generally valid trivia.

Question: Was there any reason why Vader had Han "tortured" with a machine? Han later tells Leia and Chewbacca that he wasn't even asked any questions. I know that Vader is scary, but would he want to waste time by just toying with Han and not even questioning him?

Answer: Vader is not interested in extracting information from Han Solo, nor is he wasting time; he is using Han as bait to lure Luke Skywalker into his trap. Vader knows that Luke will sense Han's agony through the Force and will try to rescue Han and the others.
