Visible crew/equipment: When Vicky and Chuck tell Sarah and Leo to take the baby with them, he's hurriedly placed in the baby carrier. At the start of the next shot, just as they all rush toward the motorcycle, at the right side of the screen one of the location shoot's huge lights (similar to a Mole-Richardson) is visible, along with (presumably) two crew members standing beside it. At least two of the crew's lights can be seen in the DVD's Special Features, "Creating the Perfect Traffic Jam." (01:40:10)

Question: How does the government hear about the comet? The scientist saves the information to a disk then takes the disk in the car with him. He crashes and the car catches fire. The disk would have been destroyed.

Answer: It could have been salvaged and worked on, plus he was calling people in authority. There would have been an investigation into the crash, which leads back the young boy and the comet.
