Continuity mistake: The sequence in which Dragon is chasing Mrs. Brisby through the field, up the tree and eventually into the mill's lake, watch his eyes. The original placement is (from viewer's perspective) blue on the right and gold on the left. When he chases her up the tree the gold one is visible on the right, it then switches back when the camera cuts back to a wide shot. This happens again a few seconds later near the lake.

Mrs. Brisby unleashes the power of the stone given to her by Nicodemus and lifts her house (with her children inside) from the mud before it's too late. The rats leave the farm and move to Thorn Valley because they don't want to keep on stealing electricity from the farmer. Jeremy (voiced by Dom DeLuise) finds a female companion.

Nicodemus: In the beginning, we were ordinary street rats, stealing our daily bread, and living off the efforts of man's work. We were captured, put in cages, and sent to a place called nimh. There were other animals there, in cages. They were put through the most unspeakable torture, to satisfy some scientific curiosity. Often, at night, I would hear them cry out in anguish. Twenty rats and eleven mice were given injections. Our world began changing.
Trivia: Mrs. Brisby's eldest daughter was voiced by a young Shannen Doherty, later to become famous for her role as Brenda in "Beverly Hills 90210."

Answer: He doesn't per se, the rats release him when they show up to move Mrs. Brisby's house.
